Yep! This is It!

I recently "upgraded" from the SVT3Pro to the SVT4Pro and, after initial usuage, I am extremely pleased! Took it to practice (We play regularly 4-5 nights a week) I told both guitarist that if they continue to try to run me off the stage - I would make their ears bleed and gave them a demonstration. Problem solved. I agree with most other reviewers that it is IMPERATIVE that you choose a cab that can handle the amount of power the SVT4Pro puts out! I am currently using a SVT6X10HLF and it handles the power like a dream! I would suggest either the PR4X10, SVT6X10HLF, or the SVT8X10. Any of these will serve you fine. Unfortunately, I cannot give much of an "in-depth" review, (just got it), but, if it performs as well as it's "little Brother" the SVT3Pro, I will be a happy camper!

Powerfull

This head has a awesome amount of power. It gives the earth shaking punch that every bassist needs. I run it through a 4x10 and 15 and I'm looking to buy an 18 because its putting out more power than they can handle. I've had no problems so far and have been using it a little more than weekly for about 3 months now with my band. Its some what pricey but its worth it. You will never need anything else.

You'll lose your head!

Simply put, the Ampeg SVT-4 PRO Series Bass Head makes a musicians life easier. With a built in equalizer to receive maximum tone, I can create my own customized sound without having to buy a pedal. Being able to switch from low end to high end helps when I switch from finger play to slap and pop. The mid frequency changer really helps with my melodic tunage giving me slight varience of tone. Literally, one flick of a switch can make all the difference in the sound of this beast of an amp head. I LOVE IT!

Amazing Head

This head is amazing. The sound, look, quality, all incredible. Run through the right cab (my prefrence is the ampeg 8x10 cab), this head pumps out massively thumping low end, with also heartmelting, melodic highs. Great for any type of music, and can be adjusted to the prefrence of whatever bass player wants to boogie.

Power, Punch, and Price

I recently purchased the Amepg SVT 4 Pro and some other new equipment after trying amp and cab after amp and cab. Ampeg was clearly the winner in the Amp race, and the SVT4Pro blew me away. It has the so much growl and depth of tone like other all tube amps, and from this packs a mean punch. The power section is practicaly unmatched and gives you head room and power that is unimaginable, I just hope my cab survives it. The variety of controls are amazing allowing you to control every aspect of the sound you get. The EQ section can SEEM a little redundant, however setting it up the way they did, one can easily switch between two drastical different tones, A+! All of this wonderful control and power comes at a somewhat high price in dollars, and also in the weight of the amp. But deffinatly well worth it for anything from Jazz, to light rock, to death metal.
