On May 1st, 2009, the Mackie, TAPCO, Crate, Blackheart and Ampeg websites will be updated with the addition of warranty URLs (e.g. www.mackie.com/warranty) expressing new A Stock warranty terms. These warranty URLs will go live on May 1st, 2009. Formerly, warranty periods for these LOUD brands appeared in a variety of locations – in product manuals (for Mackie and TAPCO) and on warranty cards and hang tags (for Crate, Blackheart and Ampeg). In order to streamline and clarify this process, Mackie, TAPCO, Crate, Blackheart and Ampeg warranty periods and terms will be communicated in full on the warranty pages.
Any LOUD products purchased prior to May 1st will bear with them the manufacturer’s warranty as predates the new policy. Moving through this transition, in order for customers to obtain warranty service, both the sales receipt and a physical copy of the (older) warranty statement will be required by our Service and Support departments in order to issue Service Requests, etc. If the product was purchased on or after May 1st, 2009, but a physical copy of the older warranty terms is not presented, the new warranty terms and periods will apply. Meanwhile, the products that bear with them the new warranty periods (as reflected in the box contents of each product) are being tracked by serial #, and contain new warranty content referring customers to the appropriate brand website.
The information below reflects the product warranty periods that will be effective on May 1st, 2009 for the Mackie, TAPCO, Crate, Blackheart and Ampeg brands:

If you're tired of taking heavy stuff to gigs, this is the answear! I got this stack and all I can say is this thing can rock. Beautiful tone and pretty loud. Together with my Steve Harris Fender, it was a perfect match!!
I was looking for that old school sound, not that SVT Grind w/ a whopping 8x10 cabinet, but that old school Motown, and Mussel Shoals type of sound. Back when even Gretsch guitars were way cool to own, and Ampeg used to build amps with futuristic names like "Jet." On top of that I needed to get a Hi-Fi type sound without my basses sounding sterile. That's right, I said Basses--as in both electric and upright. It's hard enough to get an amp that sounds good for the upright, but finding one with enough headroom to give my active 5 string room to roar, and let that lower 5th string sing on the upright while bowing it is a horse of a different colour.
This amp really fit the bill. I've played several gigs with it now, from jazz ballroom gig, to full-blown mega-church gig. So far it has proven to be a real warhorse. This amp can fill a room with sound, and I love how that 15" handles the lower frequencies. This is the perfect amp for me.
I'm not going to pretend it's perfect for everyone though. For instance, with this set up, the Portaflex amp head only cranks out 300 watts. If you really want to crank her up, you will need a second cabinet. Now in my situation, anything over 300 Watts is easily handled by running a line out to the mains and letting the house system really crank me up and keep me well balanced in the overall mix. Put that 2nd cab on this rig, and you get all 500 watts at your command.
That's important for you guys who really need "Ear Wanker" type volume for another reason. These are sealed cabs, not ported. My ear prefers the tighter sound of a sealed cabinet, but higher volume on ultra low frequencies can cause these babies to fart out on you if you aren't running more than one cab.
If you play both electric and upright, play many gigs of many different sizes, this amp deserves more than just a cursory glance. This has been such a great purchase for me that I can't help but write about it.
I bought just the pf500 and Im using a 210 ampeg bottom it works great. at least you get a decent looking unit not just a tin can looking thing. for the money it is really decent thats why im a ampeg fan. I also own a ampeg 3 pro. I just played a job this afternoon sounded excellent.
