The PF-115HE's 15" Eminence driver pushes out true Ampeg tone along with a 1" high-frequency driver with a level control for dialing in the perfect amount of highs.

Precise tone controls and gig-friendly input/output options provide ultimate flexibility. Pair it with Ampeg's PF Series flip-top cabinets for the vintage styling and portability of the iconic Portaflex originals.

The tone stack on the PF-500 provides an extensive array of tone controls for shaping your sound. Bass, mid, and treble controls come standard with a 5-position mid switch for finding the perfect midrange level for your sound. • Awesome Bass Rig in a small package

As reviewed by Jeff on 7/15/2011

I own the pf500 snd the portaflex 115HE and I couldn't be happier. True Ampeg tone, great flexibility with the tone and the design of the cab is stunning. I sold my swr sm900 and 2 goliath 4x10 speaker cabs and bought the Ampeg. Its small and lightweight which is just what the doctor ordered for my aging back. I have played in variety wedding bands for over 25 years and I can tell you that this small rig sounds better than anything I've ever owned. I have only used this on a couple gigs so far but it has come through with flying colors. Not only is the tone incredible, I had plenty of volume without really pushing the amp. Overall, this amp is perfect if you want great sound in a small package. The only negative is that Ampeg did not include a Speakon connection on the Portaflex 115SE. That was just idiotic, especially since there is a Speakon connection on the PF500 head. Only time will tell if this amp holds up but knowing the Ampeg brand, I believe that this will be the last rig I buy.

  • Best Amp I've Bought In 10+ Years

As reviewed by WILLIAM BROTT on 2/9/2012

I was looking for that old school sound, not that SVT Grind w/ a whopping 8x10 cabinet, but that old school Motown, and Mussel Shoals type of sound. Back when even Gretsch guitars were way cool to own, and Ampeg used to build amps with futuristic names like "Jet." On top of that I needed to get a Hi-Fi type sound without my basses sounding sterile. That's right, I said Basses--as in both electric and upright. It's hard enough to get an amp that sounds good for the upright, but finding one with enough headroom to give my active 5 string room to roar, and let that lower 5th string sing on the upright while bowing it is a horse of a different colour. This amp really fit the bill. I've played several gigs with it now, from jazz ballroom gig, to full-blown mega-church gig. So far it has proven to be a real warhorse. This amp can fill a room with sound, and I love how that 15" handles the lower frequencies. This is the perfect amp for me. I'm not going to pretend it's perfect for everyone though. For instance, with this set up, the Portaflex amp head only cranks out 300 watts. If you really want to crank her up, you will need a second cabinet. Now in my situation, anything over 300 Watts is easily handled by running a line out to the mains and letting the house system really crank me up and keep me well balanced in the overall mix. Put that 2nd cab on this rig, and you get all 500 watts at your command. That's important for you guys who really need "Ear Wanker" type volume for another reason. These are sealed cabs, not ported. My ear prefers the tighter sound of a sealed cabinet, but higher volume on ultra low frequencies can cause these babies to fart out on you if you aren't running more than one cab. If you play both electric and upright, play many gigs of many different sizes, this amp deserves more than just a cursory glance. This has been such a great purchase for me that I can't help but write about it.
