Ampeg BA115HP 220 Watt 1x15" Bass Series Combo Amp

On May 1st, 2009, the Mackie, TAPCO, Crate, Blackheart and Ampeg websites will be updated with the addition of warranty URLs (e.g. www.mackie.com/warranty) expressing new A Stock warranty terms. These warranty URLs will go live on May 1st, 2009. Formerly, warranty periods for these LOUD brands appeared in a variety of locations – in product manuals (for Mackie and TAPCO) and on warranty cards and hang tags (for Crate, Blackheart and Ampeg). In order to streamline and clarify this process, Mackie, TAPCO, Crate, Blackheart and Ampeg warranty periods and terms will be communicated in full on the warranty pages. Any LOUD products purchased prior to May 1st will bear with them the manufacturer’s warranty as predates the new policy. Moving through this transition, in order for customers to obtain warranty service, both the sales receipt and a physical copy of the (older) warranty statement will be required by our Service and Support departments in order to issue Service Requests, etc. If the product was purchased on or after May 1st, 2009, but a physical copy of the older warranty terms is not presented, the new warranty terms and periods will apply. Meanwhile, the products that bear with them the new warranty periods (as reflected in the box contents of each product) are being tracked by serial #, and contain new warranty content referring customers to the appropriate brand website. The information below reflects the product warranty periods that will be effective on May 1st, 2009 for the Mackie, TAPCO, Crate, Blackheart and Ampeg brands: Mackie: A 3-year, nontransferable, inclusive warranty on electronics and a 2-year, nontransferable, inclusive warranty on drivers (where applicable) apply to loudspeakers (active and passive), power amps, powered mixers, and HR studio monitors. • Good Amp

As reviewed by The Hulk on 3/23/2010

I picked up this amp about a month ago. I originally had picked up a smaller Line 6 Studio 110 but found out the Line 6 model was just not enough. I tested out an Acoutic 200 Combo which had a great punch to it but the salesman recommended the Ampeg instead. I've mainly used the Ampeg for practice and it has been providing a solid sound without any issues. I'll play my second gig with it this Friday. I'm looking forward to using this amp, it has a warm sound to it and makes my bass sound great. The only downfall is there is no effects input to the amp and I could use more juice (boost it up another 150 watts). However, I've been searching the past three months and have yet to find a better amp for the same price. I am satisfied having bought the amp new at this price.

  • Great sound in a small package!

As reviewed by Gary T. on 5/12/2008

I recently purchased this amp to play small to medium sized gigs. I had been playing a much larger sized Hartke amp which was just to big for the smaller venues. I still use the Hartke for larger gigs. What I first noticed about this amp was the great sound/tone! It's nearly impossible to get a bad sound from this amp. I also disagree with anyone who say's this amp is not loud enough, I've had no problems with the volume at all. It's just a matter of adjusting the settings. My lead guitarist likes to crank up the levels when he's playing leads to some of the older songs like Cream and Doors tunes and I've had no problem keeping pace with him. Ampeg really hit the mark with this amp . I'd suggest this amp to anyone who's looking for a versitile great sounding amp in a small package. Way to go Ampeg!

  • EXCELLENT AMP... When you get one that works....

As reviewed by Steve on 11/19/2010

I've been a BIG fan of Ampeg since a guy in my band bought one for me to use in 2002. 2 months ago, I bought a BA115hp for our church, got it out of the box, and it was making a small buzzing sound. I took it back to Guitar Center and got another one and it was great! Then a month ago, I decided to get one for myself. I bought the floor model from Best buy and it was making a weird air noise so I returned it and went to Guitar Center and bought one in the box. Unfortunately, it was lightly distorted! I took it back and went to ANOTHER Guitar Center and got another new one in the box and it sounded beautiful! This is NOT typical of Ampeg amps! One of the guys at GC said that they recently outsourced to China! I highly recommend this amp! It sounds clean and low! But get a warranty and test it thoroughly as soon as you get it home! Replace it immediately if you hear something that shouldn't be there! I gave it 4 stars only because 3 out of 5 amps I went through were defective! The amp really does sound amazing when it works!
