On May 1st, 2009, the Mackie, TAPCO, Crate, Blackheart and Ampeg websites will be updated with the addition of warranty URLs (e.g. www.mackie.com/warranty) expressing new A Stock warranty terms. These warranty URLs will go live on May 1st, 2009. Formerly, warranty periods for these LOUD brands appeared in a variety of locations – in product manuals (for Mackie and TAPCO) and on warranty cards and hang tags (for Crate, Blackheart and Ampeg). In order to streamline and clarify this process, Mackie, TAPCO, Crate, Blackheart and Ampeg warranty periods and terms will be communicated in full on the warranty pages.
Any LOUD products purchased prior to May 1st will bear with them the manufacturer’s warranty as predates the new policy. Moving through this transition, in order for customers to obtain warranty service, both the sales receipt and a physical copy of the (older) warranty statement will be required by our Service and Support departments in order to issue Service Requests, etc. If the product was purchased on or after May 1st, 2009, but a physical copy of the older warranty terms is not presented, the new warranty terms and periods will apply. Meanwhile, the products that bear with them the new warranty periods (as reflected in the box contents of each product) are being tracked by serial #, and contain new warranty content referring customers to the appropriate brand website.
The information below reflects the product warranty periods that will be effective on May 1st, 2009 for the Mackie, TAPCO, Crate, Blackheart and Ampeg brands:
Mackie:

I recently purchased this amp to play small to medium sized gigs. I had been playing a much larger sized Hartke amp which was just to big for the smaller venues. I still use the Hartke for larger gigs. What I first noticed about this amp was the great sound/tone! It's nearly impossible to get a bad sound from this amp. I also disagree with anyone who say's this amp is not loud enough, I've had no problems with the volume at all. It's just a matter of adjusting the settings. My lead guitarist likes to crank up the levels when he's playing leads to some of the older songs like Cream and Doors tunes and I've had no problem keeping pace with him. Ampeg really hit the mark with this amp . I'd suggest this amp to anyone who's looking for a versitile great sounding amp in a small package. Way to go Ampeg!
I've been a BIG fan of Ampeg since a guy in my band bought one for me to use in 2002.
2 months ago, I bought a BA115hp for our church, got it out of the box, and it was making a small buzzing sound. I took it back to Guitar Center and got another one and it was great! Then a month ago, I decided to get one for myself. I bought the floor model from Best buy and it was making a weird air noise so I returned it and went to Guitar Center and bought one in the box. Unfortunately, it was lightly distorted! I took it back and went to ANOTHER Guitar Center and got another new one in the box and it sounded beautiful!
This is NOT typical of Ampeg amps! One of the guys at GC said that they recently outsourced to China!
I highly recommend this amp! It sounds clean and low! But get a warranty and test it thoroughly as soon as you get it home! Replace it immediately if you hear something that shouldn't be there!
I gave it 4 stars only because 3 out of 5 amps I went through were defective! The amp really does sound amazing when it works!
I purchased this BA-115HP amp online because local stores had only the demo in stock. This amp is a little pricey but has great tone and features. The tuner is a nice touch for quick approximate tuning. I also love the variable level control for the true horn unlike the piezo-electric horn in the cheaper BA-115. The fact that this amp is passively cooled is also nice while practicing in the house because there is no fan noise.
What is NOT great is the quality of construction. There appears to be a severe problem with these amps rattling! At even mid volumes, I had a severe rattle over a 3 note range near the front upper side of the grill. Seeing other reviewers with similar rattles, I called Ampeg's support line to see if there was a service bulletin on this problem like recalled grill mounts or something simple that could be easily fixed. They denied any problems with this amp and recommended that I exchange it with the vendor.
After finally traveling 50 miles to the nearest Guitar Center that had one in stock, I was very suspicious about this problem so I asked to play their demo unit. It was a brand new just unboxed demo that had not yet been plugged in. It rattled worse than mine! This one in the rear of the cabinet.
At this point I realized that even though Ampeg built their reputation on great tone and amps that were built in the US, they have compromised their quality by having these amps built in China. Unfortunately, I cannot afford one of the very few amps they still manufacture here in the US, so I decided to exchange the amp for another brand. Let?s hope Ampeg gets their head out of the sand and makes a radical change in manufacturing process before they become a legend of a company that once built great amps.
