I have been dragging two of these around and setting them up on every stage I play for about 6 years now, and besides replacing a couple of bulbs everything is still together and working (with the exception of several of the twist bolts have had to be replaced because they stripped). I even have an extra footswitch still since you get one with each tree and my original still works. True they run Hot and suck a lot of power (keep them on a separate circuit from the power amps in the PA)but for a budget, or just starting out the are great and really throw off a lot of light. The zippers are still intact on the carryin bags as well, a pretty well made setup (except for the twist bolts). I do however plan to go with LED's when I can afford them to cut down on power requirements.
This is my first stage lighting rig so my experience is very limited. Our band plays and hangs out in a garage where we play on Friday nights. I bought this rig to replace our wonderfully tacky clamp lamps with colored bulbs. The clamp lamps got the job done for a while but it was time for an upgrade. This is all we need - we're playing bluebilly soul music with the standard two guitars, bass and drums lineup so I was not looking to create a dj club situation. The LS-60A is what I expected - low-cost simple stage lighting. The instructions are fairly worthless but the rig does what it's supposed to do. You'll want to take the back off the controller box and reverse it so you can mount the box in the center of the crossbar. I haven't had it in service for long so I can't comment on reliablity or roadwortiness. So far I'm happy with it.
I saw these online and read other reviews before purchasing these lights. As a club band on a budget these lights do fantastic job! I was skeptical after finding these under "D J" lights but I am pleasently suprized! I went back and bought another set for the other side of the stage. Used them for the first time last night and they were great. The directions are VERY minimal which is a hassle. I found that if you take the back of the controller off and turn it over and re-install it will mount on the center bolt of the light stand, over the light bar. I would highly recomend these to any band wanting to add lights to their show!
I have two of these sets that I have used for band lighting, and for a few parties. These are super portable, and add that extra touch that helps make a band a "show". The chase controllers are great, and can be master/slave together, and controlled by the foot switch. For a band on a budget these are great. For added lighting as a party effect they are super.
This stand system is a great system. There is a main controller that is mountable on the stand. There is a foot controller so you can controller it from a long way away it really good.
Ya know I bought this on a spur of the moment and worried about it untill I finaly got to use it. I am glad I did. It is cool. I feel like if all my other lights failed and I still had this, I could survive. I don't feel that way about my mushrooms, strobe, double twist,etc.. it seems to hold its own, I guess. I could be wrong but I like it.
over all i can say this was a good set up it lights up a room well and is easy to use with the foot controls the box that is supplied with it lets you know what the motion is before you turn off the standby which is a good thing i wasnt too satified with the sound activation part of it though but the movements were good enough on their own the only down fall with this is that it gets pretty hot and emits some heat over all good light i'd recomend it along with the LED version first though...
