American DJ Duo Station Controller (H77648)

3-channel RGB LED controller and 8-channel On/Off switching system in one unit.

The American DJ Duo Station features two controllers in one - a basic 3-channel RGB LED controller and an 8-channel On/Off switching system. The basic RGB LED controller controls any standard 3-channel RGB fixture where channel 1 is Red, channel 2 is Green, and channel 3 is Blue. It also has 9 static color buttons, a color holding button, color select button, program select button for 16 single and mulitcolor chase programs, as well as auto, sound active, and blackout buttons. The Duo Station has separate outputs on the rear control panel so that each side runs independently from the other. It’s an ideal control solution for DJs, bands, small night clubs, and bars that want simple LED control and On/Off control for effect type lights.

The Duo Station includes a 20' DMX cable and fits inside a 2 rackspace.

  • I should have bought it years ago!

As reviewed by Ron on 7/1/2014

I had been looking at this controller since the day it came out. I put off purchasing it thinking that I should go into full DMX programming. I purchased the Obey 40. While that is great for what it does. It takes a lot of setup to work with scenes and chases, and over time I set all my lights back to the simple on/off and sound active as it didn't help me at a wedding or live event on the fly. I purchased this unit about a month ago and have been out at 4 events with it, all weddings, and the setup is much easier as I have condensed the cords on my truss down to just two running to the controller and power. It has saved me so much time during setup and tear down already. I added (2) 1.5 inch O clamps and attached the relay pack right to the truss. Plugged everything in to the relay pack, set the dipswitch once, powered up and ready to go. The best part of this unit for me as I have some older high powered (non LED)lights that I would still rather use for the brightness factor is the fact that it has a 5 amp breaker to EACH plug on the relay. I know I won't pop any breakers anywhere in the chain as long I stay under 5 amps per plug. The relay button stick a little when you first start pushing them on and off, but as you work them, they get better the more you push them. Do not HIT them. No equipment is designed for long term abuse and will fail. Since this is a dual controller, I am also able to run DMX up lighting with the same controller and keep it simple. It chases, it strobes and goes static for a simple color that you can select quickly or go sound active and strobe the room when you need to add the energy and build up the crowd. All in one 2 rack space unit. I get the best of both worlds. I have also opened up 2 more spaces for more lights on the relay by adding this. Note, it also comes with an uninterruptible plug which works great if you have a laser or fog machine and want to use the remote or anything else that needs to stay on. The first unit I received I had to send back as 2 of the pots were loose. They still worked, but doing this for so long I knew they would fail very quickly. Not GC's fault, this was from the factory and may have been dropped during packaging. GC sent out another and all is good. I should have bought it years ago!

  • As the song goes " you're just what I needed".....

As reviewed by Matt on 9/27/2014

Simple set up with our DMX lights, easy to use. The important thing is to make sure that the dip switches are activated and your lights are set to the proper channel. After that it was smooth sailing. Only con was the micro print of the manual's set up diagram. Download the PDF version for better resolution (especially for us old geezers). Would buy again. Matt at the Johnson City NY GC was a great help in selling us exactly what we needed. Thanks Matt!
