It is what it is.

Don't expect this power amp to compete with a 1000 watt crown. For what it is and how much it cost I don't think it can be beat. It's great for monitors for live sound or power a studio monitoring system. I use it it in bridge mode to feed a 4x10 bass cab. It is pure clean sound. Just a bit of hiss. can't hear it even at low volumes. Don't shy away from American audio, it's cool.

Great Monitor Amp

I have an older non-powered KRK monitors that I have not used in years. The American Audio VLP 300 was the perfect match for my monitors. This Amp is very quite and is built like a tank, although it is not going to leave my studio. Great Amp for it's price. You won't be dissapointed.

This amp shutdown the second time I used it to drive a pair of mid's. I'd suggest invest your money in a higher end piece of equipment.

Premium quality amp

For the money this amp is a solid purchase. Strong construction, lots of options for three stages of voltage regulation, full range and hi or low pass cutting as well as options for some of the latest connectoons including xlr, quarter inch inputs and banana, quarter inch or twist lock connections. It has a slight audible signal to noise degredation at high levels, but makes up for it in stability of sheer power!

Nice Amp

I have this bridged and running 1 monitor. Sounds great. Plenty of power. Didnt clip all night even with 2-3 people screaming in the mics. You couldn't run a set of mains from this amp but for a 1 monitor application it works perfectly. Built pretty solid too. This was my first amp from American Audio and I'm pleased with their product, especially for the price. I'd buy another.

This amp is really something

I have these old 3 ways I needed a new amp for; they're 100 watts @ 8 ohms each so I figured this amp would go good with them. The front panel is nice to read; you have LEDs that tell you how loud it all is. The volume knobs click to each position; which is cool to help keep the volume knobs in sync. The manual is good too. There is only one switch that isn't described; the sensitivity switch. If your output is sounding overloaded; I found putting this switch to a higher voltage helps. The filter switches are nice too; if suddenly your bass is sounding distorted you can just flip it into hi pass. Or if you need to power subs; switch it to low pass. Beware though; there are no 1/4 inch outputs like a lot of speakers seem to use. I maxed this amp for 2-3 hours straight; the temp didn't get too hot and the sound stayed clean. As for hissing; you have to max a channel out in order to faintly hear any. The metal frame seems very sturdy as well. So overall this amp is pretty amazing and I feel I'm going to have it for a long time. Be sure to check out the PDF manual on this page before you buy.
