Not bad for the money!

They aren't Mackies, But they are decent monitors. I've also used them to DJ a small party and they are a little short on the bass. But as a floor moniter for my Southern Rock band they aren't bad 225 watts at your feet so all in all they're cheap at about $300 and a good value for the money you want great but $700 mackies you want serviceable buy these.

good for small setups

I've owned them since the spring 2006. Bought them as a last minute, had to have some speakers for a gig. For the price they worked and i was stunned by the preformance of them especially the price i got them for. After using them a few more times they became a rental setup for a small lounge. Worked great at moderate levels however when wanting to fill a larger space or wanting to crank up the low end the result was muddy lows and harsh highs. I would suggest using them with subwoofer to help ease the "muddy" response at higher levels or when you need that added "thump"

Great Value in Powered Speakers

The American Audio DLS-15P powered speakers are my new first choice for mobile DJ events. They provide great sound, are easy to set up and eliminate the need for my extremely heavy amp rack. Convienance and price are what motivated me to purchase them but after turning them on and hearing the thump of the bass line and the clear high ends I was convinced that these were a great purchase from my Guitar Center.

They have been there for me

I have owned two of these powered cabs. Purchased aprox 2 and half years ago. Started out using them alone for keyboards and vocals, then added 2 mackie sw1501 powered subs. They have been work horses for me in many venues. I have really pushed these babies.....so far so good. With subs they really perform great.........

Run them with subs!

As a mobile DJ (playing mostly hip-hop and pop) the American Audios work fine for small to mid-sized venues. For larger venues, I run them with the B-52 powered subs and the sound is very full at high volume. The powered Mackie 3 way speakers only power the highs at 150 watts so running these with subs actually produces a stronger sound.
