Overview

The Alvarez Jazz & Blues Series delivers genre specific instruments to capture the very essence of American music history. Body shapes, bracings and constructions were carefully considered before opening molds for our body shapes and finalizing specifications.

Alvarez Blues guitars have a vintage vibe all the way with a small rectangle bridge, V profile neck, 2 ¼” string spacing and back shifted bracing to make these smaller bodied guitar feel and sound just right.

Tonally they deliver the compressed bluesy bark expected from such a design but the refined back shifted, scalloped bracing adds more openness for a slightly more modern style projection. Case sold separately.

Comments about Alvarez DELTA610ETSB Blues Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I bought this at a Guitar Center looking for a smaller bodied guitar, it is only my 2nd guitar, my first was a Dreadnought and that really didn't work out for me. This guitar was way more comfortable (right shoulder) and it's helped me really start learning in a productive way. It was not a very educated buying decision but it felt right in the store.

So.. the only real issue I have with this guitar has been setup and build quality.

- I took it 2X to get it setup. First time I think they just turned the truss rod. The second time I took it to an independent shop specializing in acoustics and asked that they do a more comprehensive setup. They worked on both the saddle and the nut. This pretty much transformed the guitar and it suddenly played amazingly better. The nut in particular was high on this guitar making it really hard to play bar chords in the lower frets.

- The electronics in my guitar are kind of a disaster. I have taken it 2X to have this worked on and will have to take it again, the whole system needs to be uninstalled and rewired in mine. The wires were not even secured inside the body and it's wired with a short so the preamp draws power all the time. This guitar has an LR Baggs Element VTC setup that has a stated battery life of 1000 hours when the guitar is plugged in, mine is clearly wired strangely so it has a bad power draw even when the guitar is not plugged in, it will kill a 9V battery every week or two even if not plugging it in. I took it to a local luthier who specializes in electric guitar work and he said the install was appallingly bad. He is so busy I'm going to have to wait a long time to get it fixed.

All that said this thing is a great guitar, comfy, sounds great. I am getting to the point where I'm learning blues and it really shines there. Just playing basic blues shuffles on this guitar it sounds amazing. I don't really notice any negatives related to the size compared to the Dreadnought I had before.

Comments about Alvarez DELTA610ETSB Blues Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Returning to playing after many years as a hobby, purchased a new acoustic-electric dread. Good guitar, but something was off. Went to local GC trying out several small body and parlor guitars. When I strummed this one I was amazed at the fuller sound by comparison. More amazing, to me, was the ability to not numb strings on certain open chords and to flat pick them without missing a string. Upon research, realized that the 1 3/4" nut and 2 1/4" string spacing was working for me. I measured the strings at the 1 11/16" nut of the dread, 1/8" closer. Now I look forward to playing daily and am learning finger-picking as well.
