The Alvarez Artist Series AP70 Parlor Guitar is one of the most popular models in the whole Alvarez line. It has fantastic energy and response for its size and is incredibly comfortable to play. Center-scalloped bracing was used for this parlor, which lets the top really react to the finest of touches. This probably might make you play this small-bodied guitar differently to how you would larger instruments, which leads to all sorts of great stuff.

The AP70 is a member of the Artist Series 70s, which are stunning guitars made from hand-selected A-grade Sitka solid tops with rosewood backs and sides. The high gloss finish really brings out the beauty and grain in the rosewood and like all Artist Series they have advanced scalloped bracing and all natural components. Just like Artist 60 models the 70s have incredible tone and the rosewood helps to accentuate the highs and lows just a tad more.

The term "solid top" of course refers to the soundboard of an acoustic guitar being made of solid wood, rather than being laminated. However, just because the top is solid, it does not necessarily mean the sound automatically benefits from this feature. The tone of the instrument only improves significantly when the whole guitar is built correctly to really release the energy a solid soundboard can generate. The all-new Artist Series is built to do exactly this.

Each model is designed to get the best out if its components, and for them to work together to produce a tone and player experience, rarely found in affordable instruments.

The sound is warm, open and powerful, and both the treble and bass registers are clearly present and balanced in relation to each other. These guitars feel right and are exciting to play and responsive.

The solid A-grade Sitka spruce tops are hand selected from quartersawn wood. This ensures consistent quality, and its no secret better guitars are made from better wood. These tops not only look great but they are stiff and strong and finely grained. This allows them to be cut just that tiny bit thinner, which lets them dance a little more and produce a lot more vibration, and ultimately a richer tone.

New Artist Series guitars look stunning and all of their components are made of natural materials such as mother of pearl and abalone inlays, real bone saddles and nuts and rosewood appointments.

Great Value

Comments about Alvarez Artist Series AP70 Parlor Guitar:

Workmanship is very good. Sound is bright and volume good over all six strings. Really a nice looking guitar and a great value for the price. Good parlor guitars in this price range are hard to find, but this one fits the bill. I was also pleased to find that two strap buttons were provided. I play mostly fingerstyle but also flatpick some and I find that the 1 and 3/4 inch nut width is a good width for both fingerstyle and flatpicking.

Comments about Alvarez Artist Series AP70 Parlor Guitar:

I usually don't purchase a guitar without playing first so was a little nervous to say the least.Done lots of research and asked lots of questions regarding wood combination etc...Am I happy with it? Definitely. The woods are beautiful. The sound is really nice and plays well up the neck. It is so lite and comfortable. I find it hard to put down. Would I suggest this guitar to someone looking for a Parlor? 100%

Outstanding for a parlor guitar in this price range.

By Terry Zimmerman

Comments about Alvarez Artist Series AP70 Parlor Guitar:

I bought this guitar as one of the "Stupid Deal" specials. I had been wanting a "parlor" guitar to add to my collection, but couldn't find one at a reasonable price. When I saw the deal I could not pass it up. Honestly, now that I have the guitar in my hands I realize it was worth the normal full price. The tone is incredible and Alvarez is one of the best as far as their setup and quality control. It came with a set of D'Addario EXP strings and I didn't have to touch a thing to make it feel totally comfortable. No intonation adjustments required at all and it plays perfectly in tune. I took the pick guard off when I got it because that is my preference for this type of guitar to allow the solid spruce body to achieve full resonance. It has become my "go-to" guitar for solo gigs and songwriter showcases. And it's BEAUTIFUL!

Comments about Alvarez Artist Series AP70 Parlor Guitar:

I am really amazed by the quality of this guitar. It has become my favorite. My other acoustic guitar is a Gibson Hummingbird but this Alvarez AP70SB is pretty much all I play lately. I cannot find a single flaw on it. The satin neck is thin and a dream to play. The tuners operate smoothly and stay in tune for days. I cannot wait to put an LR Baggs M1A pickup in it. I can't wait to hear what it sounds like on my PA system. I would recommend this guitar to anyone. If you bought a Martin with the features and quality of this guitar I bet it would cost $4000. I can't say enough good things about it. I have been learning how to fingerpick and I get hooked on playing this guitar and cannot put it down. The strings are really limber. It sucks that it was made in China but I don't have 5 years to save up for a Martin.

Comments about Alvarez Artist Series AP70 Parlor Guitar:

I am really enjoying this guitar. It is beautiful in it's construction and finish. I had a Breedlove parlor that was hard (on the fingers) to play and had a very boxy sound that I didn't like although it was a beautiful mahogany guitar. So I was a little reluctant to get another parlor. But the Alvarez does not have the boxy sound and is very comfortable to play. I spend more time on the sofa playing it than I play any of my other guitars (including an Alvarez Blues 51 guitar, although it is also beautiful and plays very well). The size of this parlor just works very well for me. And the sound compares favorably with other guitars I have owned, including Martin, Guild, Yamaha, Seagull and Simon and Patrick. Since I just play at home, the parlor projects more than enough sound. I am very pleased with this purchase and very impressed with the quality of Alvarez guitars compared to others I have owned.

      Great couch guitar

Comments about Alvarez Artist Series AP70 Parlor Guitar:

I purchased a less expensive parlor because I wasn't sure I would like the sound. The sound was somewhat tinny and shallow. I saw this one and thought I would give it a try to just see if they all sound like that. They don't. This is a big guitar sound stuffed into a parlor size. Finish is beautiful. If you are thinking parlor consider this one.

Yes I would buy this again.
