This Alvarez Artist Series AD60 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar is a best-selling dreadnought and a truly exciting instrument to play. The AD60 is a member of the Alvarez Artist '60 Series. Alvarez was careful to get the construction just right to allow this series to sing, and deliver a player experience that's exceptional for a mid-price instrument.

The term "solid top" of course refers to the soundboard of an acoustic guitar being made of solid wood, rather than being laminated. However, just because the top is solid, it doesn't necessarily mean the sound automatically benefits from this feature. The tone of the instrument only improves significantly when the whole guitar is built correctly to really release the energy a solid soundboard can generate. The Artist Series is built to do exactly this.

Each model is designed to get the best out if its components, and for them to work together to produce a tone and player experience, rarely found in affordable instruments.

The sound is warm, open and powerful, and both the treble and bass registers are clearly present and balanced in relation to each other. These guitars feel right and are exciting to play and responsive.

The solid ˜A' grade Sitka spruce tops are hand-selected from quartersawn wood. This ensures consistent quality, and its no secret better guitars are made from better wood. These tops not only look great but they are stiff and strong and finely grained. This allows them to be cut just that tiny bit thinner, which lets them dance a little more and produce a lot more vibration, and ultimately a richer tone.

All of the components are made of natural materials such as mother-of-pearl and abalone inlays, real bone saddles and nuts and rosewood appointments.

I bought this about three weeks ago and can't put it down! This instrument has a robust sound for the price and is remarkably easy to play. I replaced the standard d'Addario strings with EXP16's to make it more playable. That may be a personal preference. Low action means you will need to use a lighter gauge string to prevent buzzing.

This feels very solid and high quality and produces a really warm rich tone. Couldn't ask for much more from a budget guitar.

Very satisfied with my purchase! Thanks!

Terrible buzz half way up neck already needing a good setup!

Nice guitar for your money but needed some serious setup work! And, for some reason there was masking tape over the truss rod adjustment hole.

Picked one of these up and was pleasantly surprised. Great feel, durability and sound. This one is a keeper for practicing if you are an experienced player looking for a lower end box to workout with, or a higher end model f you are new to the game and looking for a decent guitar to get you through the first few years. Try it out!

Comments about Alvarez Artist Series AD60 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

I play in a small bluegrass band, and we play mostly bluegrass gospel. This is a great guitar, and I was pleasantly surprised that it plays as good as (sometimes better) than my Martin.

Comments about Alvarez Artist Series AD60 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

30 year guitar veteran (Bluegrass and country) I never thought i'd buy a guitar, without playing it first, but I couldn't find one I liked locally, and thought hey it's musicians friend. I can easily return it.
Man was i surprised! I ordered it on Monday and got it on Friday. (and that was regular post) After a quick tune and about 3 chords I knew i wasn't going to return this guitar. it has a great ring, nice lows and highs, and nice factory setup. there was a slight buzz on the 3rd fret that worried me me a bit, but as soon as i put the new Martin Tony Rice medium bluegrass strings on, (buzz gone) the guitar really came alive. This is probably the BEST sounding Guitar I've ever had. It's comparable to my old martin d-18 sound wise, but blows it away in volume. It's a very light guitar, almost like a mahogany. The finish is perfect and it looks great. I really think that at this price, you can't beat this guitar.

Comments about Alvarez Artist Series AD60 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

I had a tobacco sunburst Alvarez in the late 70's, early 80's as my first guitar. Have missed it for years since I sold it in 1988. My wife got me this for Christmas, I love it, feels great, plays smooth, sound is full and very pleasing! The wood all around is beautiful. Did not need any setup at all out of the box. The only other guitar I have that I can say that about is a $4k Gibson LP! Well worth the money, do not hesitate if you are thinking about this one.

This guitar is simply amazing!!The combo of mahogany and sitka spruce sounds heavenly. This things stays in tune like a champ. Best feeling guitar I've ever played as well. Much rather have this than a Martin D18 for sure. I can't wait to get a nice vintage Alvarez next. Alvarez customer for life here.

Comments about Alvarez Artist Series AD60 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

I bought the Alvarez AD60 in burst for my adult son after considering 3 or 4 other brands,....I made the correct purchase. This guitar is amazing. I own a Martin D28, a Gibson Southern Jumbo, and 3 other various brands and the Alvarez compares favorably to any of them in my opinion. Beautiful craftsmanship and finish, nice hardware, really comfortable neck, and an absolute pleasure to play. Warm resonant lows, sparkling clear highs..Really, I cannot say enough about this guitar. I told my son if he ever wanted to sell it, I get first option.
