Overview

Alvarez Artist Series Ukuleles, like the AU70B Baritone, have been carefully designed to deliver an open sounding and responsive instrument with good projection, volume and fine tone.

All Alvarez ukes are constructed with a dovetail neck joint for optimal strength and transfer of energy between the neck and body. The bracing design is a modification on traditional fan style braces to optimize response. The response is also aided by a solid œslotted rosewood bridge, which enhances projection and helps to make string changes easier and quicker.

Other appointments and features include quality-seasoned tonewoods, real bone nut and saddles, mahogany neck, rosewood fingerboard and premium tuners. Alvarez Artist ukuleles are lively and sophisticated and deliver exceptional player experience.

Comments about Alvarez AU70B Artist Series Baritone Ukulele:

The AU70B is quite a beautiful instrument and has a good tone. The slotted headstock and rosette design is not something that I expected at this price range.

I tried two of these. They were both cracked and had other issues.

The first one had a significant crack with hump in line with the D string. I could also frets that I could feel the edges of quite easily as I ran my hand up and down the neck. The sound was quite nice and I loved it when I received it for a Christmas present. I either didn't notice the crack when I pulled it out of the box, or it developed over the next couple days after I tuned it and played it.

I returned it to Guitar Center and they were good about getting me another one, except for the 10 day wait while it was shipped. When I opened that one, assuming that this was a one time issue, I was surprised to see a spiderweb of finish cracks all over the front of the instrument. It also has significant fret buzz on the D and G strings that was not present in the first version.

I have also found out that Guitar Center is out of stock. It will be 30 more days before I can get another one. Alvarez customer service was no more help, unfortunately
