Overview

2015 finds Alvarez Guitars celebration a half century of refined and ever-evolving craftsmanship. To mark this milestone achievement Alvarez has created the APA1965, part of their 1965 Series, a gorgeous line of guitars that exemplify everything they’ve learned over the years in terms of sound, aesthetics, and affordability. “We want every guitarist and Alvarez enthusiast to be able to join us in this 50 year celebration,” says Chris Meikle, Head of Development at Alvarez and Senior Vice President of St. Louis Music. “Very often commemorative guitars are so expensive that they’re out of reach to the everyday player. Our goal with the 1965s was to create a line with beautiful appointments and tone, but make them as accessible as possible.” The APA1965 Parlor is made with premium North American, solid A+ Sitka spruce top, a beautiful Acacia back and sides, and handcrafted Paua abalone purfling. Other appointments include mother-of-pearl and abalone inlays, premium die-cast tuners, and a bi-level rosewood bridge.

Playing around the house and traveling. Hard to find a good case because of size.

Comments about Alvarez 50th Anniversary APA1965 Parlor Acoustic Guitar:

I was quite surprised at the volume and tone this little guitar packs. The quality of sound rivals some guitars at three to four times the price point. The parlor size is quite comfortable for practicing as well. However, the finish on mine arrived with many small scratches and swirl marks, and weird smudge marks as well. I won't return it, as the tone is great for the price I paid on sale, but the lack of quality control on the finish is disappointing nonetheless. For a cheap instrument though, I suppose one can't really complain about a poor finish job, but that is the reason I've taken away a star.
