Overview

The Truesonic TS215 strikes an ideal balance between no-compromise acoustic performance, the complete array of features that users demand and outstanding ergonomics and utility—all coupled with a stunning new industrial design.

The TS215 is rated at 550 watts continuous, 1100 watts peak output. This high power capability ensures greater output for use in larger spaces, with increased clarity, since the amplifiers won’t “run out of steam” and distort the way less powerful units will.

The all-new industrial design is more than just beautiful: the TS215 has five integrated handles, making it easy to pick up in either H or V orientation. Each model also employs professional-grade M10 rigging/suspension points. The tough, durable cabinets have excellent acoustic properties, while their light weight makes them easy to transport.

Because of their cutting-edge, high-efficiency amplifiers, these speakers run at far lower temperatures than conventional amplifiers, even during extended periods of high output. The ground-up design effort for these speakers enabled us to incorporate advanced amplifiers with superior heat-dissipation characteristics, eliminating the need for costly, noisy cooling fans. The result is a powered speaker system that is cleaner, quieter and more reliable.

I've owned JBL, Mackie EV and Peavey speakers over the years. These Altos are unbelievable! Powerful, sturdy, well built super clean, low distortion and they look great. I would have expected to pay close to double for a powered speaker that performs this well. The only drawback is there is no on board EQ or tone control so you really need to use these with a mixer vs. just plugging in a microphone and guitar or keyboard for small solo/duo gigs. Not really an issue though because in 30+ years of performing that scenario has only come up a handful of times and with the vast array of affordable compact mixers out there there's no reason not to bring one along to use with 1 or 2 of these Altos.

I've been deejaying and providing sound reinforcement for about 28 years. I owned and currently own speakers from JBL, Harbinger, EV, Behringer, Peavey, Yamaha, and the Alto TS115's. I did a side by side test of the 115's and the 215's with the goal of pushing both to clipping with the same song. The 215's were first and not bad at all. However, when playing the 115's I didn't even go into clipping and the speakers were noticeably louder with better bass. I then tested them with 20 different frequency signals from 50 Hz to 2500. The 115's bass kicked at a lower frequency than the 215's. Other than that they were very close so when all is said and done, I'm not convinced that the 215's peak at 300 more watts than the 115's. A little disappointed but I still want to do more testing. The 215's look better and are lighter than their predecessors and have a fair cost for these good sounding speakers to 75% volume before peak. I would've definitely given them a four-star score if they only had any two of the following three: EQ, RCA inputs, or Master Volume. I would use these for sound-fill, monitors, and gigs up to 100 maybe 125 people like a wedding reception or an elementary school dance. I really appreciate their light weight and professional look.

Good buy for the money, perfect for mobile djs.

Comments about Alto Truesonic TS215 15" 2-Way Powered Speaker:

I bought two EV ZLX15s and honestly had to return them and purchase two ALTO TS215. The EVs didnt even match or compare to the ALTOs. The ALTOs had a clear high frequency and the low frequencies were much more powerful than the EVs. The ALTOs come with 550 continous watts, perfect for DJs. They are also lightweight making it easy to move and transport for mobile DJs. I can honestly say that the ALTOs are a good buy for the money.

    Good For Beginners

Comments about Alto Truesonic TS215 15" 2-Way Powered Speaker:

I was in the market to Upgrade from my Alto TS115p, Which I have used for 2 years and mostly had no issues with except one time that one blew on me. I DJ and needed new speakers to fill in bigger sized venues. I took a look at the new TS215's and they did sound louder but they lack in clarity overall. I had a EV ELX 15 compared right next to it and you can def hear the difference at higher volumes. These speakers are great for if your starting out and doing gigs for 50-75 maybe 100 people but thats it or you will have to turn the volume way up and risk blowing them. Overall the price is great and like I said to start with these are great but you don't want them to be your main rig forever. If you can squeeze out a little more money I would look into something slightly better. Don't just always look into the watts power, look into the SPL and other specs.

Comments about Alto Truesonic TS215 15" 2-Way Powered Speaker:

I picked up a pair of these a few days ago to replaced a set of Mackie Thump 15s. One of the Mackies blew out, so rather than replacing the speaker, I went ahead and grabbed these new Altos. The Mackies had a lot more "thump" but that's something i can always get from my sub. Aside from that, the Altos performed that night flawlessly. I drove the hell out of them for roughly 7 hours in a small lounge. What I noticed was how easy it was to handle these. They are pretty light, and have handles on all sides. One other positive i noticed was the amp did not get super hot, even while driving them pretty hard. The contour feature is cool. It bumps the high and low EQs an extra 3db, while the mid stays at 0. This emphasizes the bass a bit. I had to keep it off during the gig, otherwise I'd start to see the clip light flash. Regardless, these speakers are the real deal and I am very happy I picked up a pair. Now i'm just waiting for the TSSUB to come out that matches these.

Comments about Alto Truesonic TS215 15" 2-Way Powered Speaker:

I bought two TS215's to use as mains, I'm very happy with them. I have a full blown Alto p.a. setup with monitors, sub, e.q. and 2404 mixer, it all does the job of sound reinforcement well. The robust design and great looks is as good as it gets, bravo to the design dept. I would say Alto's customer service dept is one of the best in the industry as far as trying to satisfy the customer. They worked with me with my mixer issue's until I was satisfied. I rebuild music gear as a hobby and the Alto line is one of the best lines I've run across for price point, sound quality and robust build quality. A good choice for working musicians.

Comments about Alto Truesonic TS215 15" 2-Way Powered Speaker:

I am a mobile DJ. I do various events ranging from house parties all the way to college campus events (Crowds range from about 15 people to 150+). I was in the market looking for an inexpensive quality speaker with a nice amount of low end and a large amount of clarity. I did ALOT of research and narrowed my decision down to the TS215's, Mackie Thump15's, and then the EV ZLX-15 series. (My budget was $500 for one speaker). I decided that I would go into guitar center and see which speaker offered the best bang for the buck. I listed to all the speakers with different genres of music and my results follow. The Thump15's had GREAT bass but it just didn't have that clarity I was looking for. The EV ZLX-15's had nice bass and clarity was amazing, but I just could not justify paying an extra $100 for them because the TS215 sounded just as good (even a little better). With a some help from my guy named Andy (The dopest sales associate) in the store I decided to purchase one of the TS215's and give it a go!

I have successfully handled parties with greater than 150+ folks with the TS215 as my main, without any subwoofer, alongside two 8in behringers (that I use to drive my highs) NO SWEAT! The only con I can speak on is the clip light flashing but a little adjustment thru my external mixer fixes that completely.

No the TS215 doesn't have a built in EQ, but I have a mixer for that... The TS215 is lightweight and slides right into the back of my mustang with plenty of room to spare. You have 45 days to purchase a warranty as well as to return the speaker (literally 45 days!) I cam on the 44th day and paid $70 bucks for 2 year coverage! LOL

Honestly, I don't know how you can beat this speaker, you can talk about QSC's and JBL's all day, that's cool... but for this price, and the quality... you just can't beat it! I recommend this to any mobile DJ looking to get a nice set of 15's.

I will be investing in two more here soon (Just to future proof For even bigger events)

Very pleased with the pair of Alto Truesonic TS215s we bought at Guitar Center a few months ago. We A/B'd these speakers against a bunch of others, including QSC and JBL, and the Altos sound really good. Great bass response and pleasing mids and highs. The more expensive speakers didn't sound significantly better to us, and they aren't any louder. They also get plenty loud at 129 dB each, and the cabinets are pretty light. Works perfect for our 6-piece band with 2 lead vocalists.

Comments about Alto Truesonic TS215 15" 2-Way Powered Speaker:

Overall, these speakers are amazing!! Anyone that says they have bad quality or are easy to blow out are obviously using these improperly and dont know how to treat speakers. If you know the basics of speakers, these are amazing. I went to the guitar center in Harrisburg looking at a pair of EV speakers and the person working there directed me towards these Altos and i was immediately blown away. For more that $100 less, and 100 more watts, these were the obvious choice. Now EV's are great speakers as well. But for the price and size, these were the better choice for me. I also bought a pair of ProLine Speaker Stands to mount these speakers on. Although, I wish these speakers also had a case or some kind of cover. But that's a minor squabble.
