I bought this subwoofer to replace my Mackie SRM1801in my dj setup. I had nothing but problems with the Mackie so I finally gave up and decided to try a different similarly priced sub. Guitar Center recommended the Alto because he said every DJ they sold this to loved it and they hadn't had any returns. I played this weekend at it ROCKED. I could never push my Mackie really hard because the red clip light would always come on. I didn't clip once this with the Alto. What I also really like about this speaker is that it has a built in fan but its still lighter than the Mackie. So far so good with the Alto and I am a happy customer. I'm even thinking about buying another one to really blow the place out.

This sub is ok for DJ but not for a band. It needs to have some adjustable crossover point for the low frequencies. Don't expect it to work wonders in outside events because the base will get lost. For the money.. it's ok... but again it has a set point for the low frequencie wich make sit useless for me. Traded for the cerwin vega 18

Best powered sub I have used!!!!

By Daniel

from Cairo,Ga.

This is a very portable and great sounding speaker. It paired very well with my two powered 15" that are another brand. I will be looking to buy another one very soon. No issues with this speaker and seems to be very durable. Try it you will love it!!!!

Even better than I hoped!

By Scott

from Crystal River, FL

I am a drummer and sound man. After much research, I bought this sub for gigging with my band. I was not disappointed. I just completely replaced my old PA which consisted of a heavy power amp and heavy passive 3-way cabinets with this sub and a pair of TS-112a tops. We immediately did an inside gig and an outside gig. The bass was full and louder than I expected based on some other reviews I had read. I it light and extremely easy to set up. It never clipped during either of the shows and everyone complemented us on our sound. I will most likely buy another just to ensure we have enough power.

Spectacular Value and Results!

By Jim Unger

from Raleigh NC

I recently picked up the Alto TSSUB18 18" 1200W Peak Active Subwoofer. I've pulled it out for 2 proms so far (500+ bass sensitive high schoolers) and have been completely blown away! I only bought one and it's plenty to full a ballroom of people. I run it with two Mackie SRM 450V2's. I plug in the mackies to the "link" out and just hit the "low cut" button to take out the lowest register of bass out of the 450's.... It's a perfect pairing with spectacular results!

Hard Working Sub

By ken robbins

from Fort Walton Beach, Florida

I purchase this Sub 12/7/2013 and played it a week at my house. I had a DJ Gig 12/14/2013 outdoor venue around covered pool using the Alto Sub with 2 15" Beringer and that Sub "rock the House" from the time the party went live until it was time to turn it down. I could see waves in the pool where that Sub was hitting and I mean hit hard all night. I am going to see about getting a second sub, since I have three more Beringer 15" active speakers. I would recommend these Sub Speakers.

how can u beat it?

By Jonathan Nance

from polk county

brought 2 alto tssub 18 powered subs, inside a building or enclosed space medium (community center 300 people capacity) to large (gym 1000 people capacity), deep bass tight bass and accurate bass is what u get, I am impressed, they do have limits if u are trying to knock down the walls, and playing outside in an open space u don't get the same feel, the bass is absent, but then again playing outside, and their are probably better powered subs, but I still say how can u beat it for the price?

This Speaker Bumps!

By Tyrannus Rolle

from Salt Lake City, UT

I run one of these & 2 of the TS115A in my club every week. Club capacity is 350. We usually get 150 - 200. I set all 3 speakers at 12 oclock in mixer mode for the crossovers. I used to constantly check for clipping but I never saw any. It's been about 6 weeks. Now, i just set and forget it. Im playing hip hop & top 40 all night. Great sound for a great price. I'm very happy with this purchase. I will eventually buy a 2nd one to shake the house down but its not even really necessary.

GREAT PUNCH! GREAT THROW! GREAT SOUND! GREAT BUY!

By Kevin Long

from NYC

bought the whole alto trusonic series. i own the two top 15" cabinets and looking to ADD a 2ND 18" bass bin to the one i already have! this thing rocks! it has nice smooth low end, and punches nice and hard for those heavy bass lines that house and hip-hop have! this is a great product! to give an idea, i had it running alongside somebodys two 18" mackie SRM series bass bins....at about -5 db read on my mixer, my sub wasn't stressing the least bit.... the two mackies---, already showing the clip indicator on the bass drum hits! .. at 0db, alto, not even breaking a sweat! pounding away, loud and clean!.... the mackies... both of them, clipping hard, steady red clip indicator!.... bad! (this was done with all subs with volume knob at "12 o'clock' position and comming with sound from the same mixer [denon x-500], master to alto, and daisy chained mackies [even vise-versa, same thing accoured]) This alto sub is great if your not able to spend the money for QSC' KW's or something like that.... this will really rock the party and get you bookings off the sound alone! really great stuff Alto Professional! can't wait for the BLACK series by ALTO!
