After spending nearly double the price on a much more 'high end' subwoofer to enhance the low my existing PA of the same brand and having it die 3 gigs in...twice on different jobs, never to be resurrected thereafter (even with factory support!)...I decided to take a chance on this.

I didn't know much about the brand, but heard that Akai makes them...so I figured I'd give it a shot based on the mid-level price, and visible durability on MF website. How bad could it be, right? Seems pretty solid...I'll take the risk, i thought.

Man...some risks are worth taking! This little baby did exactly what I needed!! After rigging up my typical mixer setup (Laptop/vocal mic/effects rack/Synth Keyboard) I ran an aux out from my mixer into the Subwoofer and was able to route my channels as needed, while keeping the full range on my tops going.

despite the fact that this thing looked great outta the box, and was SO well balanced/built that physically picking it up was almost effortless, I was skeptical at first when I saw how small it was (it's not tiny, but compared to my previous 18" beast...)

Would this thing hold up at the event I had to perform this weekend? well....

I DJ'ed/sang/keyboard at an event with 250 people in a large hall, and man...this baby helped me [tastefully] shake the floor boards and keep dance floor packed for 4 straight hours.

Definitely will be getting a 2nd one and pole mounting my PA over each for larger events.

Heck, I might even give the Alto 15" PA Cabinets a try...

Look - is this the BEST thing on the market? Maybe, Maybe not...but at this price point...it's well worth the money. And after a strong first show withit, I can tell you this lil dude will kick you square in the chest.

Toward the end of the night, I had it cookin' pretty good with some thumpy dance music...so I was mindful of EQ...but kept checking the back to see if we were clipping/overheating. ...Pshhh....not even close.

MY $0.02: If you're looking for a sturdy, balanced, well crafted, boom-bastic, punchy box that will enhance the low end of your existing PA system...get this thing. Don't even think twice.

I'd give this thing 5 stars outta the gate...but let me get through my 3 gig probationary period without it dying first. :)

I have both Alto 18 & 15 1200W. When I place the 15'' next to the behringer 15, or place the Alto 18'' next to Behringer 18'' then the Alto are always very weak. Both the Alto 15 and 18 have Volume on the MAX, while the Behringer only at 2 or 3, but the Behringer already way louder. If I used the Alto for the home use with the 6'', 8'' or 10'' midrange+tweeter then it would be OK. Overall it sound clean on bass, don't have one note bass, only the issue is it rate at 1200W max. It sound like 100W

Comments about Alto TSSUB15 15" 1200W Peak Active Sub:

This sub kicks, and together with my 2 alto ts212 speakers sound great, they really do compliment each other.
The sub is HEAVY no big bells and whistles but looks impressive.
Very sturdy, actually it would have been nice to have the option of casters, but other than that no complaints.

I bought this sub because it was recommended by a musician friend tech on the phone. This little guy is plenty of power for all my local DJ gigs for parties and weddings. I recommend this for small to medium size rooms. If you had two of these, would be perfect for large hall. I am pleased.

Comments about Alto TSSUB15 15" 1200W Peak Active Sub:

when I added this sub to my 15" mains I couldn't believe the difference in the sound. All that low end punch is missing if you don't have a sub working for you.
There are louder subs out there but you're not going to find one at this price. Heck, you can buy 2 of these for less than what you'll pay for just 1 of the more expensive brands.
Not to say this thing doesn't move some air - it does!
I have a pair of the alto powered 15's and this is just the right complement. Alto is making a good name for themselves for musicians on a budget.

After reasreching for about a year, I setteled on these Alto 15" subs. First I am not a DJ, but a drummer in a band. We play everything from Heavy Rock to light country. I wanted to compliment my JBL 115 JRX 15" Mains and give us more low end. I am all about pressure. I tested them in the store in 2 locations, just to be sure, researched like crazy and then to another person in to make sure I was not hearing something. I was really can not belive the overall performance of these!! They kicked the #$%@ out of the Berhinger, Mackie and the Gemini. All got good reviews, but had noting for the price and performance of the 15" Alto's.
