Overview

Part of Alto's TRUESONIC series, the TS112A is an 800W Class D powered loudspeaker with a 12" low-frequency transducer and 1" neodymium driver. It provides you with two mic/line combo inputs with independent volume controls and an XLR output for linking to other speakers. Their lightweight, trapezoidal cabinet makes it easy for you to use it as a traditional upright loudspeaker or as floor wedge monitor, and it's stand or pole-mountable as well as flyable. Other features include a clip Limiter with red LED, ground Lift switch, and a contour switch for increased EQ control.

Versatile Cabinet Design
All TRUESONIC 2-way speaker cabinets have been designed with versatility and longevity in mind. They feature a durable, lightweight polypropylene enclosure that is stand mountable for weekend gigs and flyable for more permanent installations. What's more, they have a trapezoidal design which greatly decreases the resonance of the standing wave in the cabinet for a more true and exact sound reproduction. The TRUESONIC TS112A is ideal for musicians and DJs on the move and halls, malls, schools, houses of worship and more.

Total Transparency
The TRUESONIC Series was designed from the ground up to be the most transparent loudspeaker money can buy. Rigorous testing and thousands of hours of listening have gone into making sure that what you pump into a TRUESONIC speaker is exactly what you get out. Everything you see (and some things you don't) - from internal signal path and components used to the sculpted cabinet and meticulously designed waveguide - was developed in service of the principle of accurate, transparent sound.

Super Efficient Drivers
The drivers in the TRUESONIC TS112A are designed to make sure that virtually no energy is wasted. That translates to more of the power from the amplifier actually working to generate sound rather than heat, giving the speaker better real world performance than other speakers with comparable published specifications. The TRUESONIC TS112A offers a 12" LF driver (2" voice coil) and a 1" HF neodymium driver .

Modern amplifier design
Every active TRUESONIC speaker benefits from the use of a Class D amplifier integrated into the cabinet. Class D amps are generally lighter than Class A and AB amplifier designs, and offer more than enough power to provide your performance with plenty of punch. The TRUESONIC TS112A delivers with 800 watts of power and offers a balanced combo jack (XLR/TRS) input with level control. Class D amplifiers are also highly efficient and run cooler than other kinds of amps so the amp doesn't have to work as hard to deliver your mix.

Hang 'em High
Optimal speaker placement can be challenging, especially if your speakers don't have what it takes to go anywhere. Whether you need to fly your speakers, pole mount or use them as floor monitors, TRUESONIC speakers are ready for you. All TRUESONIC speakers feature standard 36mm pole mounting insets on the bottom. If you need to fly them, it's no problem. The TS112A comes with five rigging points. All these options make the TRUESONIC one remarkably venue-friendly speaker. You can use them anywhere you need them.

Just what you need
Whether you're performing at a coffee house, wedding, house of worship or other small to medium-sized venue, the TRUESONIC TS112A is your best choice. For example, it's easy to get your TRUESONIC speakers to the gig thanks to their carrying handles and lightweight design. Once you're there you won't need to be a live sound engineer to figure out how to EQ the speakers thanks to the built-in Contour EQ switch that can help adjust for those situations where need an EQ alternative for recorded music playback. When you're connecting everything, the TRUESONIC's dual XLR/combo inputs make easy work of your setup and each speaker's independent level controls give you the flexibility to dial everything in your way in seconds.

Full metal grille
You can never be too safe around the stage. We know stuff happens that you just can't predict. Sometimes it's the flying drumstick, a falling mic stand or worse. Every TRUESONIC speaker comes with a complete front grille from top to bottom that protects not only your low frequency driver, but your high frequency driver as well. With TRUESONIC speakers, you get extra peace of mind knowing that whatever comes at your sound system, it's covered, literally.

Seriously, these are the best powered speakers out there for the money. Crystal clear sound, plenty of bass and power, two inputs, contour control, and did I mention plenty of power? They also look great! I have a pair of them that we use in our youth ministry. We use them as stage monitors, but they also double as our portable system. I used them all over the place this summer, and they didn't skip a beat! If you're trying to decide between these and a Mackie Thump or Behringer speaker...just get these! I've tried them all right next to these, and there is no contest!

If you were DJing, needed sound for a church, or small outdoor event this speaker would be fine. However it does not have the power for a band. We play just around the house with 2 guitars, bass, singer, and sometimes drums and with this speaker at max we can barely hear the singer at all. Plug another device like keys into the other input and forget it the sound is cut drastically. I will be making a return for something better suited for a band.

Alto Truesonic 112s - 12s

By heriberto

from killeen, texas

I have a set of these speakers as my back uo speaker for my 12s black alto speaker ,I also have played them all together and the truesonic 112s, highs have a higer pitch to the powerfull blacks alto 12s, they have less power than the blacks, but they clost way less and they perform outstanding, and have the power to rock any party, and if you add a sub woofer, you wouldn't need nothing more to rock your place........................................

So far so good...

By Andrew

from Queens, NY

I only used them twice on my own private gigs. Overkill for those, that's why I got 12's instead of 15's. I will re-post if my band uses them or an outdoor band shell show where we need 4 speakers. We have 4 EV's (ELX 15" powered) and a tweeter blew in one of'em. May not be fixed on time so we might use these 12" Altos of mine. I actually hope we get to use them because small gigs like restaurants don't let the throttle out on them. But they perform well and sound great on the 2 occasions I've used them. Price was a driving factor for me.

These speakers are truly the best bang for the buck! in the price range they sound astonishing, can easily be compared to much much bigger and more expensive speakers. i got a pair of these to run for a mobile dj... they are light, easy to work with, and sound great! love them!

College Student

By Mitchell Tice

from Madison, WI

Bought this speaker for an apartment in the middle of a college town? and I was absolutely blown away! The output is incredible, more than you would ever need. And the bass, if living in an apartment, is also quite heavy, and perfect for the stand alone speaker. I was truly shocked when I found that this system would cost me no more than $300, because it performs better than any other PA speaker/speaker system that I've ever seen - most reaching as high as $1000! If you're looking for a sturdy speaker you can just plug your iPod into and let play for a group of people, this is most definitely what you're looking for. Just be ready to have your face melted off!

Good stuff, priced right.

By eddie mccormack

Alto makes a real nice speaker/PA system. I use two Alto 800 watt PA speakers for my keyboard set up and they sound amazing. Speakers are very easy to tote around, look great and function as they should. Buying from Guitar Center is peace of mind as they have a great return policy and will take care of you should you have any problems, or if you are not satisfied with your purchase. Best bang for your buck IMHO.

Excellent Choice

By Joseph Salvatore

from Nashville, TN

I needed a speaker for an acoustic duo. For me, clarity was the primary concern, as well as a speaker with enough power to do medium sized venues. I had the Harbinger 15", and after three weeks returned it. Extremely underpowered, and not even in the same class as this speaker when it comes to sound. I did an in store comparison of this speaker, the Mackie, and the Behringer 15". To my ears, this was the clear winner. The Mackie was good too, but was a softer sound. More low end, but at the cost of some muddy low mids. The Alto was clearer in the mid range, and adding low end via mixer was simply and worked very well ( was using a Mackie VLZ 1602 mixer). With 800 watts, power is not even an issue. An excellent speaker for the value

Blew me away... Literally!!!

By Derek M

from Smithtown, NY

My very first impression of these speakers was WOW!!!! These things are loud!! they run at 400 watts running power (usual continous running power) and the bass was just booming! it felt like i had a sub in the room!!! (which i didnt!) i turned these up half way and plugged my guitar into one of them, and played a few chords, and my neighbors 3 houses down complained!!! i mainly use theses as speakers for my dj company, where i can blast heavy heavy bass music into these cabs, and they perform flawlessly! they are fan cooled, so the amp doesnt overheat and its impossible to clip these things if your turned up to 50%! they are killer loud, and they perform flawlessly outside (filled an entire block at a block party for 5 hours straight) and barely got a little warm at the end. they are also very light for an 800 watt powered speaker. I HIGHLY reccomend these speakers over any other speakers in the price range (mackies, behringer, samson0 these are the most power powered speakers in this price range out there. SELL YOUR OLD PASSIVE SYSTEM AND MOVE ON TO THE LIGHTNESS AND POWER OF POWERED SPEAKERS!!! GET THESE!!!!

Unbelievable bang for your buck.

You can?t go wrong. Great bass & Highs. The class-D amp really putts out 400 watts of continuous power. Go to your local Guitar Center and just listen to theses speakers.

Amazing sound and value, even vs. QSC

By Matt Cletcher

from Peoria, IL

We run QSC K12s as mains and monitors along with QSC sub and are very happy with them, however a need for additional monitor and a keyboard/synth amp came up (along with a scaled down budget). Default was to go with another QSC after being somewhat spoiled, after all a $300 competitor (if that) surely has to sound horrible. Wow, was I wrong. My bandmate picked one up after doing some research, we were somewhat shocked at how great they sound. So much so I asked him to go back and buy another for my keyboard setup. The QSC has more connectibility features and dsp and boosts, but sound vs. sound I was finding it hard to justify almost 3 times the cost. Still love QSC, but its nice to find a cheaper alternative that delivers. I actually liked how the Alto handles Keyboards direct as a stand alone amplifier better than QSC. The QSC with all the boosts off was rattling on bass notes played on my Yamaha MOX8, but the Alto handled them no problem. Sound difference was minimal. QSCs run at about 500W continuous 1000W peak and altos at 400W and 800W respectively, so not a big difference. So if money's no object, great get QSC, but for an insanely close 2nd place at 1/3 of cost give these a shot. If nothing else they make great support speakers for your QSC system. Will see how reliable they are over time....
