I bought this subwoofer to replace my Mackie SRM1801in my dj setup. I had nothing but problems with the Mackie so I finally gave up and decided to try a different similarly priced sub. Guitar Center recommended the Alto because he said every DJ they sold this to loved it and they hadn't had any returns. I played this weekend at it ROCKED. I could never push my Mackie really hard because the red clip light would always come on. I didn't clip once this with the Alto. What I also really like about this speaker is that it has a built in fan but its still lighter than the Mackie. So far so good with the Alto and I am a happy customer. I'm even thinking about buying another one to really blow the place out.
This sub is ok for DJ but not for a band.
It needs to have some adjustable crossover point for the low frequencies. Don't expect it to work wonders in outside events because the base will get lost.
For the money.. it's ok... but again it has a set point for the low frequencie wich make sit useless for me.
Traded for the cerwin vega 18
