Product Information

A top choice in flexible pro consoles.

The Allen & Heath MixWizard WZ3 14:4:2+ Mixer meets the top 4 requirements for pleasing the most demanding engineers: great sound, high quality, ease of use, and lots of really useful features. The Allen & Heath WZ3 is a 4 audio-group mixer that's ideal for live sound applications. You'll appreciate the mixing console's improved EQ and preamp design, individual phantom power switches, channel meters, and the 2-output matrix. 10 mono channels and 2 stereo channels offer dual functionality for front of house and monitoring, 4-band EQ, phantom power, 6 aux sends, On switch with LED, and 100mm smooth-action faders, plus direct out and inserts.

Dual functionality

GRP/Aux mode switches reverse aux master section with the group and LR faders, providing up to 6 monitor sends with inserts on 100mm faders. Another under-panel switch converts the Mono control and XLR out to an engineer's listen wedge output.

Mono inputs

10 mic/line channels with switchable 4-band EQ, HPF, individual phantom power, 6 auxes, ON switch with LED, and 100mm smooth action fader. A direct out and insert using all-metal TRS jacks are provided.

Dual stereo channels

The Allen & Heath MixWizard WZ3 14:4:2 has 2 dual stereo input channels as standard. ST1/3 and ST2/4 jacks have separate gain controls and ON switch. Each stereo channel on the audio mixer has a 4-band EQ.

4 audio groups

Assigned from paired routing buttons and pan from channels. Groups access L/R busses via a pan control and on switch. Groups have XLR outputs, 3-color meters, and inserts in GRP mode.

6 auxiliary sends

6 auxiliaries, 1, 2 prefade (option: link to follow pre/post switch), 3-4 switchable pre/post fade (option: permanently prefade) and 5 and 6 switchable pre/post. Aux masters are rotary controls with AFL and can feed XLR outputs with inserts when the GRP/Aux reverse switches are pressed.

4-Band EQ plus HPF

Separate controls for sweep and cut/boost on mid bands. HPF @ 100Hz is switchable.

Matrix

The Allen & Heath WZ3 14:4:2 mixing console is supplied with a 2-output matrix on TRS jack as standard feed from groups 1 to 4 and L/R.

Engineer's toolbox

Headphone and wedge monitor controls. PFL/AFL on all sections with LED indicators. Peak and signal LED on all channels. 4-segment, 3-color LED meters on GRP/Aux. 12-segment bar meter on L & R follows the PAFL system. Channels have TRS direct outs for recording. 2-track record/monitoring/replay. Talkback with trim to all auxes, groups, and LR. Oscillator and pink noise generator are provided for line-up.

Legendary....

I manage the live sound for my church and got to use one of these mixers. Believe, this mixer will blow you away! The sound is amazing! There are so many features on this thing, it would be almost impossible to list. I especially like the groups, allowing me to mute channels simultaneously with one button as opposed to muting each channel individually. If you have the money, get this mixer. You won't be needing anything else, it's that complete.

Well done mixer

After researching and gathering opinions on Allen/Heath, Mackie, Yamaha, and other mixers. A&H seem to be hands down the best in quality and customer happiness! I am glad I purchased the 14:4:2 over the 16:2 as the 14:4:2 gives so much more in functionality/flexibility with sub busses and the matrix sends. This board gives you the best all around solution for Live FOH and Studio work. I can adapt the board for Live music while recording that same performance at the same time very easily. The hardware itself is top quality and I am real impressed with the over layout since I am used to working on large boards like the Crest HP-8. This is a spendy little mixer. If you can afford it, you'll be real happy with it. I dinged the value rating mostly because of price.
