      Allen & Heath GL2400-32 Live Console (634109)
Availability:

A massively versatile makeover of the popular GL2200.

The dual-function Allen & Heath 32-channel GL2400-32 Live Console is loaded to the teeth with the features you need for all kinds of mixing applications. It offers 4 group, 6 aux, and LR mixes, enhanced 7x4 matrix, multi-source stereo channels, and aux-fed subs capability. Dual Functionality:When mixing front-of-house, the monitors can be set pre-insert as well as pre-EQ to prevent your house mix EQ and compression affecting the stage mix. Per channel aux switching means you can mix pre-fade with post-fade sends such as theatre radio mics and sound effects. As a monitor console, the aux masters have faders, inserts, mutes, meters and balanced XLR drive. You even get a fader controlled engineer' wedge feed with Allen & Heath's GL2400-32 mixer. The Groups and LR mixes are still available to create yet more sends. In monitor mode the GL2400 can provide up to 10 mixes, for example 6 wedge and 2 stereo IEM.Performance:Allen & Heath's new mic preamp has an extended 74dB gain range with massive headroom able to deal with the widest range of signals right up to +34dBu. From a new low-noise mix amp through responsive 4-band EQ to the differential balanced +26dBu outputs, every stage has been carefully designed to ensure optimum gain structure and the best sonic performance possible.Third Fader:There are 3 master faders on the GL2400 mixing console. A configurable M fader lets you create an LR sum mono fill, an engineers monitor wedge feed, or a dedicated center or sub-bass speaker mix from Aux 6 which means you can dial in exactly what you need from each channel. L, R, and M each provide a dedicated meter, mute, AFL, and balanced XLR output.7x4 Matrix: The matrix is a big feature for corporate AV work, specialized recording and broadcast feeds, and personal monitoring. Smart auto-switching of the external inputs lets you add a common mono, stereo, or independent source to the matrix. Cross patch from the stereo channel mic breakpoints to add room ambience to your recording and IEM feeds.Dual Stereo Channels:These 2 multi-function channels provide a mic and 2 stereo line inputs each. Use the channels as mic inputs while the 4 stereos are independently routed to LR, or combine stereo sources such as backing tracks and reverbs while the mics are patched elsewhere. Or use conventional stereo channels while the second inputs provide additional returns and the mics patch into the matrix for ambience.

  • great console with lots of features

As reviewed by Nick Geiger on 6/6/2010

The Allen and Heath GL2400 is a mixer that simply stands out from the competition. This board features an ability to, with the push of a few buttons, turn into a great monitor mixing console. The board has 6 mixes/auxiliary sends with the first four being grouped by a single pre/post assign button and the last two are grouped in the same manner. The board has two stereo channels, but each of these channels can handle two independent stereo inputs with attenuation knobs at the top for each. So this board really has four stereo inputs controlled by two faders. Also the 7X4 matrix allows you to combine groups, left and right mains as well as an external input. Matrix mixes are great for recording, distribution of audio throughout a building, and monitors. Overall a fantastic analog board that definitely wins some serious eye candy points.

  • Can't go wrong with allen and heath

As reviewed by Michael Hamilton on 5/13/2010

We just bought this mixer for our theatre at church and I love it. 6 aux sends are great for monitor mixes and effects sends and the group outputs are helpful when sending signal out to other parts of the church. the matrix outs are good for recording groups from. each channel has direct outs which is great for multitracking. i recommend this mixer to anyone who needs alot of flexibility when it comes to routing and recording signal.

  • Clean, Easy, Lots of routing

As reviewed by Jim Sharp on 7/12/2010

I've used this in several settings, but have used it most in the system I designed and installed at my church. Our typical worship band includes enough instrumentation to utilize around 20 channels pretty routinely, so having the flexibility to grow a little is valuable - especially using extra channels for FX returns, wireless gear, etc. This board has fantastically flexible routing and works well with our Hearback monitoring...however we've had to jimmy-rig a couple of the channels on the Hearback due to the limited number of available auxes--but a little creative bussing and use of the matrix outputs and we're good to go. Only complaint in 3 years of use is that the power supply was bad when we received the unit. It worked fine for an hour or so, and then a capacitor just went KABLOOEY! and it sounded like a missile was coming. A&H was great though, sent us a replacement and walked us through the repair. I'd recommend this to anyone, in a heartbeat.
