LOVE IT! It folds up flat for easy storage or travel and is pretty light weight. I am 6Ft tall and it's a good height for me. When I lower and use the foot stand, it gives enough height to my thigh that I don't feel the guitar is going to slide down my leg if I am not using a strap. The two padded prongs that lower for guitar stand function and neck support worked into the center front of the seat work well and you can feel confident your guitar is not going to get bumped off easily. The only thing that could cause you a headache would be, if you need to be able to put your guitar down while remaining seated on the stool you will need a second stand. You can't sit and use guitar stand at the same time. This is not an issue for me. It could be a bit beefier, I would take the additional weight for the security of a heavier duty stool, but over all, I think it is fabulous!

This looked ideal before I tried it. It has 2 major problems: the cushion is so thin my butt was hurting in under a minute. It needs about 2" of high density foam to be comfortable. Second problem: It's too high for anyone under 6'4", and I'm 5'8". But i want it, so I changed the cushion ( a major pain) and now I'm going to chop the legs.

Towe of these stools failed on me the welds on the foot rest broker off and I went down. I took the second one to a friend and he re-welded the cross members the way they should be.
I do not recommend for the musician who plays out a lot and moves equipment around. and don't try turning on the seat the thing will crash down on you

Comments about Alfred StagePlayer II - Guitarist Stool and Stand with Footrest:

I've had this for about five months now, and it is my primary practice stool. I play for between 20 minutes- 2 hours a day. The feature that allows you to lean your guitar on it during breaks is very convenient for me. The guitar is secure enough in the holder for the most part, but if you have kids running around, you may want to put your guitar somewhere else as the neck is not as secure as it is with some dedicated stands. As for playing, for shorter sessions, it's perfect. However, it makes no pretense as to having a lot of padding as that would also affect its portability. So, it's a tradeoff that my bum begins to feel after an hour. If you plan on sitting for extended periods of time, get a stool with more padding. However, if you like to play around for shorter sessions and/or want a stool that is easy to take from location to location, this does the job nicely. I'm definitely keeping this, but am looking at getting a stool with a bit more padding as well. The stool itself is secure. It easily holds my weight at 150 pounds. My husband is 220 and sits on it with no problems, but then he just uses the stool to grab a bite to eat, not to play guitar for extended periods. If you are much heavier than 220, you might want to look elsewhere. For me, though, this stool has worked well. I would buy this again.

              Good for home use

Comments about Alfred StagePlayer II - Guitarist Stool and Stand with Footrest:

I bought one of these for my home studio/office to be used when I'm playing/practicing; it is perfect for this scenario. But it does not look sturdy enough to be used for gigs where it may be subjected to being tossed around and normal "traveling"/stage abuses. I've only owned this stool for around 3 weeks, so cannot speak to how it will hold up to normal use and "kids" abuses. The reason for my purchase of this product is the fact that it can be used as a guitar rest and a playing stool, and I'm perfectly happy with that. I would be willing to spend more money on a better made product (perhaps wood instead of metal), that can match the functionality of this product.

Comments about Alfred StagePlayer II - Guitarist Stool and Stand with Footrest:

Bought this as a gift for my 11-year old. He loves it. He has already taken it to a few events where he played guitar and it was a big help. No more leaning the guitar against a table or bench when he's not playing! Now he always has a good place to sit while playing and a good place to set his guitar when not playing. It folds up very flat when not in use so it is easy to pack in the car. He's only had the stool for a few weeks, so I can't speak to its long-term durability. But it seems sturdy enough. I highly recommend this stool for anyone who takes their guitar 'on the road' to shows, camping, etc.

              Fills the Bill

Comments about Alfred StagePlayer II - Guitarist Stool and Stand with Footrest:

This stool does exactly what it says it will do. It is 25" high with a lightly padded seat. If that's not what you want, then don't buy it! It folds easily, is light but sturdy, and makes a great guitar stand with the little flip out, nicely padded holders. The seat even has an indentation in it so the neck of the guitar can rest there without sliding off sideways. Until now, I have been carrying a wooden stool plus a folding guitar stand to all my gigs. This combo stool will replace both and fits better into my car. I love it.

We had two of these stools and both have collapsed without warning throwing me accross the stage sideways about 4 feet. The welds are faulty (made in China) and break under my weight (200 lbs) They look good and function well but look out!

I was pleased with the stool. I bought it for my son for Christmas. The only complaint he said was that the padded seat does not have enought padding. After sitting on the stool for hours, he said that it becames uncomfortable.
