Blemished items are customer returns, open box, ding n dents and re-stocked items. These items are in great condition and very similar to new, except for packaging that may show wear or may not be original. Not covered by manufacturer warranty, but covered by our 30-Day Satisfaction Guarantee.

5 Star Condition:

Mint Condition: This instrument or product has been carefully played/used and returned to us in virtually new condition, however its packaging may not meet the standards set by the factory. Also, it no longer carries the manufacturer's warranty. If you're looking for a virtually new instrument in possibly less-than-perfect packaging, this is a great value. • It's A Good Beginning

As reviewed by zedthewizard on 10/19/2006

The Alfred Teach Yourself Guitar Repair & Maintenance (Book/DVD) is a great resource for anyone interested in guitar playing and his or her instrument. The information package is not for the advanced luthier by any means. Nor, is it for someone who wants to build a guitar from scratch. However, the book does cover alot of good ground to advance your knowledge and skills. The book provides a sound basis to work with some of the more complicated tremolo systems in a good manner. The DVD is easy to use and you can go forward or backward with ease. One of the most important learning exercises I had with this book was in setting up a guitar; more specifically, stringing a guitar. I have had many a friend play guitar for years and as a favor would string my guitar for me. After using this DVD, I can pretty much blow them away on stringing any type of guitar with or without a tremolo and various types of tuning pegs and various types of locking mechanisms. Of course, having a guitar with each system helped me learn along with the DVD. On a sad note, I'll just say that I cannot find a feeler guage in the size used in the book. Even, after placing an order with a popular luthier supply shop. So, I go by whether or not I have any buzz.

  • Very Good Start

As reviewed by kray on 12/20/2006

The book and DVD are great resources. I live in a rural area where there isn't a guitar shop close by... with people I trust to handle my instrument. So I decided to learn how to setup my guitars. This way I only had to take my guitar in if something major was wrong. I have other more technical and detailed books that I use as a reference along with this book, however I feel more comfortable now doing a setup because I have watched someone else do. Books really can't take the place of seeing something. While you can use the same principles for an acoustic guitar there isn't much on adjusting the bridge or intonation for acoutics.
