  • gods gift to the guitarist

    Johnny A's is to guitars what Beethoven was to pianos.Johnny A is without adoubt the best guitarist i have ever,ever,ever heard.I really don't think anyone on this planet could ever top him or his style. To me he is the "be all end all " guitarist of our time.He has inspired me to buy one his signature giutars by Gibson and learn to play.To Johnny,Jess,and Criss keep doing what you're doing because we love you.

  • first rate DVD!

    I purchased this DVD a couple years ago, after hearing Johnny A play live for the first time. Very enjoyable, both for musicians who want to learn details about Johnny's playing & writing, as well as for fans who simply want to watch & hear him play. The format is the same for all songs: first Johnny & his band play a song all the way through, then Johnny discusses both his playing & the arrangments with interviewer Aaron Stang. Aaron's detailed questions get to the essence of how Johnny achieves the various tones in each of these songs. Sheet music & tab are embedded on the DVD for all songs but one (Wichita Lineman, IIRC, due to a copyright restriction), for those who want to learn Johnny's playing note for note. At the end of the DVD, Johnny also discusses some of the construction details of his Gibson Johnny A. Signature guitar, as well as his approaches to practicing (he doesn't!), songwriting, etc. Two thumbs up on this DVD . . . it inspired me to pick up the guitar again after a 30-year hiatus.
