Overview

This dual-purpose unit is a FireWire interface with real faders, knobs, and EQ, and it's also a rockin' standalone analog mixer with quality Alesis effects and flexible signal routing. Each input channel on the mixer (plus the stereo mix) is sent into your computer and a stereo output is received from the computer for monitoring. Its versatility will fit your needs in your project studio, for live sound, portable recording with a laptop, sub mixing, and radio/TV production.

You get preamps with XLR and 1/4" balanced ins and phantom power on mono channels; balanced 1/4" ins, aux send, and stereo aux return on stereo channels; 28-bit effects; 3-band EQ on each channel; 1/4" balanced main and monitor outs; a headphone jack; and 24-bit, 44.1/48kHz A/D/A conversion. Steinberg Cubase LE is included.

From studio to stage

The MultiMix FireWire lets you record your band during the day and mix your live gig at night. Every input plus the stereo mix is sent to the computer while a stereo pair returns from the computer into the MultiMix for monitoring (and headphone mixes).

24-bit, 44.1/48kHz operation

The MultiMix uses the same A/D and D/A conversion as the esteemed Alesis HD24 recorder--clean, pure, and totally professional conversion.

Next-generation FireWire technology

The MultiMix uses the brand new, high-performance TC Applied Technologies Dice II FireWire chip. Superior clocking, state-of-the-art interfacing, and robust drivers all come standard!

Alesis effects built in

The MultiMix FireWire has 100 of Alesis' 28-bit digital effects built in. Reverbs, choruses, delays, and other effects can be mixed into your recording path or just used for zero-latency headphone mixes (the performer hears reverb in the headphones, but the track is recorded dry into the computer).

Rack it up

The MultiMix is rackmountable, with easy-to-attach rack ears available.

Affordable and effective

Comments about Alesis MultiMix 12 FireWire 12-Channel Analog Mixer:

This is my first mixer that I have purchased, and probably the last until I get more serious. It is very durable and has a lot of nice features. The effects are a nice addition, though not really needed unless you are performing live. The FireWire is a very big plus and allows this mixer to interface with Cubase (and other programs) VERY well. If you don't need a whole bunch of channels, I'd say this is a good option.

Comments about Alesis MultiMix 12 FireWire 12-Channel Analog Mixer:

So far, no problems, the mixer works super, everything is fantastic, lots of options and the fire wire is a perfect connection. Kinda tricky to configure, that Icon that appears in your desk top, actually you have to configure before you start using your programs, and it works with Audition perfectly. It's just an amazing piece of device. You cannot go wrong! Alesis rocks!

alesis multimix 12 review

Comments about Alesis MultiMix 12 FireWire 12-Channel Analog Mixer:

I needed to track four tracks at once for a project I am working on. It's rare for me to track more than one person at a time as I mostly just over dub myself. But I figure I would take the plunge and upgrade my audio interface for when times like these. First. The drivers that come with the mixer are poor. Alesis updated them and they are available to down load on their site. now before I figured out there were updatd drivers I fiddled around with the drivers that came with the cd for a few hours thinking I AM DOING something wrong. After reaserch I found out lots of people had problems with the drivers and they were updated! Cool! So I downloaded the new drivers and they seem to work OK on my desktop and do nothing on my lap top. My lap top has a faster processor so this is kind of confusing. I was looking foward to having to tracking with my lap top with it unfortantly I can only use it with my desktop which has even lower specs than my laptop. I still get drop outs when I push the mixer on play back with fx's and audio track numbers at about a 20% higher cpu usage than my trusted tascam us-122. It's also my understanding that the drivers just don't work at all on duo processors acoring to the cakewalk sonar forum. Its not a great audio interface but It will do the job on the rare occasion I need to track 4-8 people at the same time. I think the drivers need to be work on. If they get it perfected it could be a nice little mixer. More information could be found here >>> http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.asp?m=929936&mpage=1&key=multimix&#951262
