The Napoleon Of Modeling Synths.

By SyNthGuRu216

from Cleveland, OH

Comments about Alesis Micron Analog Modeling Synth:

At first glance the Alesis Micron looks like little more than a toy. It's innovative size and simple design can be misleading however, because the Alesis Micron packs more features than some of todays leading modeling synths. The formula for this instrument? Alesis basically took their Ion modeling synth, simplified the design, and downsized it in everything but features. They left the keys full size which is a much desired feauture. They also give you octave up and octave down buttons, so you never have to worry about size limiting you from playing high of low. The pitch bend wheel is one of the best I have played yet, and unlike some, does not slip out of my fingers while I'm playing. The preloaded sounds have alot to say for themselves and require very little tweaking, however, those struck by creativity will have no problem completely altering them. All I can say about the Micron is go try it yourself, you'll be surprised, and whether its lying in bed with the Micron expierimenting with new sounds, or playing onstage, you will not be disapointed.

I bought this synth yesterday and I was so amazed by it I didn't stop playing it all night. This thing has so many effects. Im in love. All in all 1000000 times better than the mini korg (which I also have)

Excellent Virtual Analog Synth

By JoeyKeys

from Buffalo

Comments about Alesis Micron Analog Modeling Synth:

Wow! This synth is great! I own a microkorg synth and one day hope to get a minimoog, but because the classic analog synths are so expensive, I got this. The microkorg is good, but this does a lot more for its price. Plus this thing does just as much as its sister synth the Alesis Ion but costs less. The sounds are amazing. Most sounds are very close to a true analog and even sound like an old atari game. They can get classic sounds that true analogs have for less price. You can make and save up to 500 of your own user tones, patterns, arpeggios. That's a lot for such a small thing. Plus this small thing has full sized keys. very portable indeed.......

Why buy big?

By Lyndon

from Portland, OR

Comments about Alesis Micron Analog Modeling Synth:

This synth has everything you need. Fat bass, soothing pads and the ability to be edited to your needs at the touch of a button. If you want a great unit for a great price, this is your best bet. The synth sounds on this thing are straight out of analogue. One listen to the organ patches alone will have you purchasing this great set of keys in no time. I've done plenty of recording with this thing and I can't get over the lush sounds that come out of it. Amazing.

Simply Amazing!!!!!!

By Anonymous

Comments about Alesis Micron Analog Modeling Synth:

This is a really good synthesizer. For the last couple of days I have tried deciding between the Micron or the MicroKorg. Once I heard about the Micron's sequencer I quickly went the Micron. I am sooo glad I did. The sounds on this synth are incredible and it is very user friendly for people who are very creative and need something to mess around with and tweak. Plus, this is very essential for a DJ who wants to throw together some effects or some chords.

Sweet!

By Kyle

from Atlanta, Georgia

Comments about Alesis Micron Analog Modeling Synth:

This little guy is incredible. I've been playing it for about 3 months and it's been awesome. It doesn't have built-in speakers, but it does have a headphone input. Even with headphones in, when you have it plugged into an amp/sound system/whatever, you can still use the headphones. It has two inputs (L/R) and two outputs (L/R). It also has a special set of sounds you can use for an external instrument (I use a guitar). There is absolutely NOTHING you can't do on this thing. It's incredible. I HIGHLY recommend it!

Modern Synthesis at its Best!

By vangogh

from Rocklin, CA

Comments about Alesis Micron Analog Modeling Synth:

As a Radiohead junkie, I naturally picked up tools to work on synthesis, and I am in love with the complexities of this amazing syth. Its features are like that of any technical or analog synth I have played on, but I love how any sound, any program, and any system is easy to access. I have followed Thom Yorke, Postal Service, and Radiohead for years, and this synth gives me almost any sound to model the features of a full-range synth of Thom, Johnny, or Ben's caliber. The only downside to the Micron is the time signatures in terms of setups, in that all measures are based upon 2's and 4's, making it difficult to build time signatures based on 7/8's or 5/4's. Other than that, I use this synth in almost all my music and it provides sounds and programs valuable to any synth-based musician.

INCREDIBLE synth!

By DJ Zombie-Walk

from St Louis, MO

Comments about Alesis Micron Analog Modeling Synth:

I bought this synth back in April after spending over an hour playing around with it in the store, and I must say this is by far one of the BEST purchases I've made for my music. It's so simple to use, and is a WONDERFUL piece of equipment if you're a producer. The only thing that's an inconvenience for me (I wouldn't even really call it a PROBLEM. I love this synth way too much to say it has any problems.) is that if you're using it for production, it isn't good if you're going for anything other than fast-paced electro music. But, this synth's greatness in what it delivers makes up for it 100%! If you buy this synth I KNOW you will love it. It is simply amazing. 5 stars. No doubt about it!

A small package that will be a BIG addition to your sound arsenal

By Heavy G

from Chicago, IL

Comments about Alesis Micron Analog Modeling Synth:

I did a lot of research before buying this synth. I have a Yamaha Motif ES-8 (which has some beautiful acoustic instrument tones). I was looking for a "second tier" (top shelf of my two tiered stand) synth that could afford quick access to some killer analog textures to augment the Motif. I read a lot of documentation on both the Micro Korg and the Micron...someone suggest the Micro X, also (but it is a couple hundred dollars more). In the end, I chose the Micron for a number of reasons... 1. The synth engine is outstanding...the tones are pretty close to the original analog versions. ALthought many "pros" will argue about the Nord, Moog, etc...sure, I could get the real thing (and the ultimate in performance) for about 5 times the price. Not an option...this is pretty darned good for less than $400. 2. It's physical layout and menu system are easy to navigate. The full sized keys (vs. the mini keys on the Korg) are a HUGE improvement. Moving up or down an octave is a breeze and can be done on the fly...overall, very simple format. The build quality is excellent (much more solid than the Korg). 3. It is a cool looking piece of hardware. I love the retro vibe...it just livens up my studio. It puts you in a playful mood when you riff on it. All in all, I would have to say that I am very happy with this keyboard. I imagine, it will enable my keyboard player (I am a drummer) to be able to leave the Motif in my studio and just use the Micron for live gigs.
