Only one ...

Comments about Alesis ION Analog Modeling DSP Synthesizer:

Only one criticism...lacking in drum kits. That minor detail aside, this is the greatest single musical purchase I have ever made (and I gig on some serious equipment). Every single one of the countless voices is endlessly customizable. The pre-filters, filters, post-filters, oscillator, drive, effects, tremolo, pitch, and lfo (just to name a few) can be changed to turn each voice into something else so utterly different there is no relation between them. 5 vocoder settings are a ton of fun to play around with. Advanced users will like the endless customization and extremely fast action. Beginners will find this a great tool to learn on, and it includes a fair share of "repeaters" so even someone just starting can sound pro. There are voices that appeal to classic synth fans, as well as a few so unique I almost want to call them novelty. You will never run out of things to do with this synthesizer. You couldn't buy something of this quality elsewhere, not for any amount of money. And since this is only $600...just buy the synth.

Best value of any VA synth on the market

Comments about Alesis ION Analog Modeling DSP Synthesizer:

The Alesis Ion is an excellent choice for anyone looking for a great sounding, versatile virtual analog synth. While the Ion's controls aren't laid out in completely traditional fashion, they are extremely intuitive and no control is more than the click of a button or the turn of a knob away. All adjustments made using the controls instantly display on the screen, providing a graphical view of the entire signal path. Modulation is very easy to program using the Mod Matrix, which links a wide array of sources and destinations. The Ion is extremely well built, and features a reasonably good keyboard for the price. It also includes various drives and effects, which, while they hardly rival more expensive external effects, add a nice finishing touch if used wisely. The only downside to the Ion is the screen angle. Placed flat on the top of the unit, the simple green LCD is difficult to view clearly if not viewed from the right angle, which is often the case in multiple keyboard setups.

The ION is like nothing else.

Comments about Alesis ION Analog Modeling DSP Synthesizer:

This is almost a must if you are going to do electronic or dance music. There is just something about the ION that you can get nowhere else for any price. This piece of gear has added a new dimension to our production capabilities, as a complement to our KORGs. The ION delivers a distinctive sound that you know when you hear it. Technically, it is a very capable machine, and we use it on almost every track in one way or another. Worth the investment, especially if you'll take the time to endure the learning curve, which can be a bit steep at time.

Comments about Alesis ION Analog Modeling DSP Synthesizer:

This is a great low budget keyboard, with awsome sounds, and synths. I use it on every song I lay in the livetronica Music, I had a well known keyboardist play this with me and he bought for twice the price I paid for it, Get It You'll Love It
