      Alesis iO2 StudioPro3 Recording Package (486268)
Availability:

A smart, affordable package that'll get your studio off the ground with an audio interface, a mic, monitors, and more.

The iO2 StudiPro3 Recording Package includes the 2-channel Alesis iO2 Express USB interface; M-Audio StudioPro 3 powered desktop monitors; MXL V63M large-diaphragm condenser, wired with Mogami; XLR mic cable; and mic stand with fixed boom.

iO2 Express Audio Interface
The compact Alesis iO2 EXPRESS audio-recording interface is ideal for home studios and portable recording setups. The 2-channel USB interface for Mac and PC-based systems enables you to record at up to 24-bit resolution for input into virtually all DAW, recording, and performance software.

The Alesis i02 EXPRESS recording interface is small enough to comfortably fit into your mobile recording rig, laptop bag, or backpack, yet it contains high-quality components and circuitry suitable for the studio.

Flexible recording and playback
The i02 EXPRESS interface's discrete-design preamplifiers and true 48-volt phantom power ensure that you capture microphones' complete signal. High quality analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog converters ensure that every detail of your session or performance gets recorded – and played back on your monitoring system. It's class compliant, so you can use the plug-and-play Alesis iO2 EXPRESS with virtually any computer.

The iO2 EXPRESS is USB bus powered so you won't need to carry a bulky power supply, and its performance is optimized for minimal laptop battery drain so you'll be able to track long sessions and gigs remotely.

Complete iO
The iO2 EXPRESS has 2 input channels. Each channel has an XLR microphone input, a 1/4" TRS insert for external effects units, and a 1/4" TS jack that works with line-level sources and can accommodate direct connection of guitars.

The Alesis iO2 EXPRESS sends and receives 2 audio channels on a single USB cable for simple, universal interface. You can monitor your sessions on any studio monitoring or other loudspeaker system via dual 1/4" balanced outputs. For remote tracking and alternative playback, the iO2 EXPRESS has a 1/4" TRS headphone output.

The iO2 EXPRESS features traditional MIDI In and Out jacks for playing and controlling software with keyboard and pad controllers, workstations, and other MIDI-compatible instruments.

Level management
Each channel has a gain trim control, and there's a master level control for optimal gain staging. When monitoring on headphones, you'll appreciate the dedicated volume control.

You can also visually monitor levels and operation using the tricolor, stereo metering tree and lighted status indicators.

M-Audio StudioPro 3 Desktop Audio Monitor
The M-Audio StudioPro 3 active monitor features powerful amplification, a custom-tuned cabinet, optimized speaker design, and advanced crossover technology for the best possible sound. Magnetic shielding prevents this desktop audio monitor from interfering with your computer or video monitor.

Stereo Auxiliary Input and Headphone Output

For maximum flexibility, a stereo aux input allows you to plug in a secondary audio source (such as your portable music player) in addition to the main RCA inputs in the back. The volume control works on both inputs simultaneously. Additionally, there is a stereo headphone output next to the aux jack that mutes the sound coming out of the speakers and redirects it to your headphones.

Natural Bass

The custom bass reflex port design discharges very low-frequency signals and delivers a smooth, substantial bass response. Need more? The rear-panel bass boost gives you additional low-frequency gain and makes the monitors versatile for different spaces and listening preferences.

Monitor Pads

High-frequency audio signals tend to be fairly directional. That's why wedge-shaped monitor pads are included to help point your StudioPro 3s directly at your ears for an optimal listening sweet spot.

Enclosure
Provides a more stable performance with a special medium-density fiberboard (MDF) and unique interior reinforcement designed to absorb vibration and impact generated under extreme conditions. Includes carefully placed acoustic material that makes the StudioPro 3 sound much bigger than it is--resulting in a smooth, natural bass response.

V63M Condenser Studio Microphone
The MXL V63M Condenser Studio Microphone has a 1" diameter, 6-micron-thick diaphragm that delivers high sensitivity and detailed recordings. Wired with Mogami wire for added clarity. With balanced, transformerless output for low noise. Encased in a heavy-duty brass enclosure. The MXL V63M has a cardioid pickup pattern and a frequency response of 30Hz- 20kHz. 48V phantom power required.

Musician's Gear MS-220 Tripod Mic Stand with Fixed Boom
The MS-220 Tripod Microphone Stand has a thread adapter and tubular legs. Its adjustable height from floor to top thread is 35" to 61-7/8". The 30-1/4" fixed boom is not adjustable.

Gear One XLR Microphone Cable
For serious-minded musicians, Gear One's XLR cables have the strength and durability to withstand more than everyday use. Since your cable is your sound, this XLR mic cable's superior wiring allows your signal to be quiet, eliminating frustrating hums, buzzing, and crackles.

LiveWire 1/4" RCA Dual Patch Cable
This Live Wire mono 1/4" male to RCA male dual patch cable has metal headshells. Like all Live Wire cables, it is designed for serious musicians, with the strength and durability to withstand more than everyday use.

Superior wire
Your cable is your sound. Superior wiring allows your signal to be quiet, eliminating frustrating hums, buzzing, and crackles.

Sturdy construction
Sturdy construction enhances signal and performance. Flexible design eliminates kinks and twists for a tangle-free performance whether you're in the studio or on the stage.

  • Almost complete

As reviewed by Christian Sandoval on 12/7/2012

So about me: I am a beginner in the art of producing. I mostly write, but dab into recording, and wanted to have a cheap set up in my room because i just cant afford to go to a studio anymore. Plus i have some friends that would like to record soooo, why not right? Well like i said money is short and looked for weeks on deals, and it seemed every time GC had a big sale good names were always marked up or excluded, so i just ignored that factor. this bundle pretty much came with everything except studio headphones. I got the hd 280 pro's those are amazing btw. So the mic is great for the price, everything is clear but doesnt come with shock mount! Be AWARE. cables are good. The AI is, from what i can tell, good obviously not top tier quality but for me it sounds great. I had it hooked up in cubase on my laptop and worked fine, i just built a hackintosh (great if you wanna save BIG) and am about to hook it up to garageband soon but just been busy. THE PROBLEM: The monitors are crap! kinda ruins the deal. PLEASE TAKE THIS ADVICE. DO NOT GET THIS PACKAGE FOR THE MONITORS! they are literally crap!!!! the frequency range is doodoo, i didnt look at this before i bought it unfortunately, and the right speaker will have issues of cracking at high frequencies. i googled this and seems it is a big problem, and these speakers are discontinued also, probably why the price is so low. And of course this package is not available for returns, kinda feel screwed on this one by GC. But in all, except for the monitors, the items preform to my needs as a hobbyist.

  • Way beyond my expectation

As reviewed by Rodolfo Cuevas on 2/21/2012

I'm a 22 year old producer. i been working with many DWA's since i was 15. from pro-tools to sonar. from cubase to cool edit. you name it. and i have to say that this package went far beyond my expectations. however the driver that the io2 comes with isnt very helpful, after downloading the iso4all driver everything went smooth. Cubase comes with this package as well wich i really think is a plus cause once you register your cubase product you have access to all its features, which include being able to install more vst plug ins. i installed waves and autotune (yes im a hip hop producer)and this works wonders... no joke. the mic is great the speakers are good for their size. and the stand is very sturdy. i would recomend adding the voxguard isolation panel and a pair of nice headphones ( thats what i did) and this would be the ultimate in-home studio package

  • Really great setup

As reviewed by Keith michael on 8/15/2011

I've used tons of interfaces, stuff like mboxes, toneports, digiracks, firestudios etc, so I know the difference between crap and quality. It's not an AMAZING setup by any means, but if you're trying to demo your band or do a little home studio its perfect. Know before hand if you don't know what you're doing, your mixes will come out like crap. If you know what you're doing though you can make some truly great stuff with this. Features: Basically everything you'd expect from a recording package. I'm not 100% but I think only the first channel gets phantom power. And I've noticed that even if I set the signal from mic/line to guitar(to temporarily quiet the mic) signal still comes through. Not a huge deal, as I can just turn off phantom power if I'm using a condenser. The mix knob works really nice. Sometimes the direct pass through on cheap interfaces is a bit noisy, but this is clear as hell. If you plug in a guitar and set it to direct, you get a beautiful clean guitar tone. The monitors come with really nice stands that work as riser angles, or lowering angles, so you can get a perfect position with your ears. The volume knob is very nice not too loose and not too tight. Though because its round with no grips, turning it off requires a little force. The headphone and aux in on the front of the monitors is also really nice if I just want to use normal headphones without a 1/4 plug. I don't use the mic stand as I have a weighted round base stand, but I did take the boom off and put it on it. So far it's worked very well but I'm slightly afraid it's going to break so I try not to be too rough with it. Quality & Reliability: The mic is very nice, but you're going to need to buy a shock mount and pop filter. It's obviously not a $1000 mic, but for what it is it's a very crisp and clear mic. I like it a lot more than other budget mics like the mxl 900 and the akg perception 220. It has really nice clarity for such an inexpensive microphone. The speakers could definitely use a little bit more bass, and even with the bass boost they still don't kick as hard as they should. But they are very nice for mixing, and offer really good clarity and spacing if you set them up right(they come with a manual on where they should be in relation to your ears) Now the BAD. After using the mic cable once it crapped out on me. Constantly has a weird clicking kind of noise. Drove me crazy thinking it was the mic or interface, but I changed out to a nice monster mic cable and it solved the problem instantly. Look & Feel: Honestly everything looks really good. The monitors have a slightly budget look, especially with how small they are and the plastic kinda frame around the grill. But to anyone whose just a musician and doesn't know anything about recording equipment they'll look very good. Most people I record don't know anything about mics, so they just assume the mic is a pro mic. The cables to hook up the monitors to the interface are actually very nice. I was impressed, they look and feel like really quality cables. The xlr cable though is incredibly cheap, and broke after my first use(wasn't surprised). As I said before, I only use the boom but it does feel kind of cheap and extremely plasticy. All in all: For the price you won't find anything better than this. I did a lot of research before I purchased and I made the right choice. The first recording I've done so far sounds light years better than I expected it would.
