  • Great looking trigger

    I already had the basic set of Surge Cymbals (hi-hat, crash and ride) but I needed a second crash to fill out the kit, in this case a Alesis USB Pro with Surge Cymbals. These cymbals are great. They look and feel right which makes it easier for acoustic drummers to acclimate to an electronic environment. They also trigger very well - I think the resonance of the coated metal works better than a rubber or plastic surface. These do not make for a quiet kit; the click is pronounced but it doesn't sound like a real cymbal at all. My one complaint is you need to rig your own boom or stand. If you own an Alesis kit it would be nice to add matching hardware to support the new cymbal. I was unable to find that accessory so I used Gibraltar parts.
