  • Be warned, these are single zone only!

As reviewed by Rev on 6/24/2010

Just so everyone knows, I found out the hard way, these cymbals are single zone only. You can not trigger two sounds off of these. Much of the Alesis compatibility docs and some FAQ say they support dual zone but they do not. I called Alesis and the tech told me the dual zone for Roland is only via velocity sensitivity and that my friend does NOT constitute dual zone as any single zone pad/cymbal can do that. So, if you want to be able to trigger a larger amount of sounds go with a pad that really does support bow and edge triggering, these do not. Also, they have a bit of a narrow triggering sweet spot - exactly where it says Alesis. hit outside of that area and the volume drops significantly. Lastly, if you're buying a second one of these with choke for your DM10 Pro kit be warned the choke will not work! The DM10 module only supports choke on inputs Crash and Ride. So if you must get another Surge save yourself some cash and get the non-choke version.
