The Alesis RealHead Kick Pad is a wonderful kick for such a low price... Out of playing both Acoustic and Electronic Kits(mainly) i have to say that this kick has a 10/10 rebound with your beaders. It is a slick design with a nice touch. I really do recommend this kick pad for any E-Kit user especially if you happen to use double-bass pedals... it won't miss a hit. So go out to your local Guitar Center and try the Alesis RealHead Kick Pad it's a must.
I bought this kick pad with the intent of having something at least close to a real drum as possible, unfortunately I personally did not get that or any quality. In comparison to other kick pads the RealHead pad is considerably louder. In order to keep the unpleasant slapping sound it made under control I had to add a layer of cloth to the outside with pillow stuffing inside. It didn't rebound noticeably better than any other I've experienced, it is after all just a small drum head covering everything that would be in a normal kick pad so there's no reason it should actually feel any better. If you're looking for realistic feel I'd say stay away. On faster double bass parts this pad regularly missed beats for me, with and without the covering I added in order to keep the actual sound it made under control. The plastic washers around the outside of the pad's rim came already broken and I had to replace them. Durability wise this pad is crap. I've had it for under a year, I don't play every day, I'm not particularly rough, and the thing has already broken twice. The construction of the interior and makes easy fixes nearly impossible. You're not fixing this kick pad's fatal flaw without tearing it apart. Wiring is decent but wires are short, thin, and weak making taking at apart nerve wracking due to fear of causing more damage while balancing the still connected parts in awkward ways. First time it broke right in the middle of one of the wires, second time the wires broke real close to the sensor. Can't get to it to fix it. Despite what I expected after the first time it didn't break at the solder I used to repair it but further down the wire, meaning the wire's quality and not my repair was the issue. It also costs money to replace the drum heads the kick pad uses every once in a while, something that you won't have to worry about with other pads. Don't waste your time and money with this pad, if you're looking for something cheap there are far better options, if you're looking for something realistic feeling there are, again, far better option.
