  • Nice controller

As reviewed by David Loving on 6/1/2013

Bought a Q88 last week and used it on a gig Saturday night, May 31, 2013. This board did everything I asked it to do. I can usb it, along with a Korg Nano, to my macbook and control Kontakt5 and change programs within banks I had built. Last night I just midi'd it to an XW-P1 and played XW-P1's piano and Rhodes on the 88 keys, and used the 61 key XW-P1 for organs and synths. Worked perfectly. The Q88 is simple, easy to set up, very light, powers up on usb, and well built. I needed a controller that is all those things. It looks good. The keys feel is just fine for me. It is semi weighted. If you're looking for a simple, straight forward 88 key controller, test drive this one.

  • Was good but not durable

As reviewed by Kojo on 8/6/2014

I loved using this keyboard the first day I had it. I used it to program stuff for a recent album I co-produced. I also played it at gigs by sampling tones onto it from Logic. One day, I had the keyboard in my car while driving home one afternoon, and when I got home, I saw that part of the Alesis logo at the right side of the keyboard had melted, as if someone had deliberately burnt it with flame, and since then the keyboard seized functioning. I admit that the temperatures that day was on the high side, but I wasn't expecting that to happen. I am going to get another one soon because I love action of this keyboard, and it's cheap. But if this happens again, I will find something else.

  • Nice 88 key controller

As reviewed by Michael House on 4/23/2014

I admit for the price I really wasn't expecting it to feel like my Kurzweil K2600 but when they state "semi-weighted" it would have been nice if it actually was. The semi-weighted part is simply heavy duty spring loaded keys. It feels more like a synth action than a piano The keys are just harder to press - not weighted (IMO) I also found some of the white keys edges to be a bit on the sharp side. Now that I have my negative done the positive is this thing works well. I ran the midi out to an Axiom 49 and worked perfect. I enjoy that I have a full length keyboard for under $200.00 If your in need of a low cost 88 key controller this will work. Don't expect it to feel anything like a weighted or even semi weighted keyboard.
