  • Greater than awesome!

Get one! I was blown away at the triggers, they are extremely sensitive. I didn't realize that they are sensitivity-active, meaning if you barely touch the pad, it will barely make a sound. If you pound on the pad, the sound increases exactly like an acoustic drum set. Also, the pads have a bouncy rebound that helps a lot with fast songs. It has almost 300 built in sounds that are wonderful, the kicks REALLY pack some bass. The whole thing weighs about 2-3 pounds, very lightweight for carrying to a friends house to jam out. The downsides is that you can get a double-trigger sometimes where it will trigger a pad that you didn't touch if you're not using a kick pedal (sooo weird!!!). Strangely, once I hooked up a piano pedal for the kick (until I get an Alesis real head kick), it completely stopped double-triggering! It plays 100% now! Another flaw is that if you hit 3 pads at the same time (like bass, snare and cymbal), it will sometimes mis-trigger one of the sounds. I've had my Performance pad for almost 2 years and its only mis-triggered like that maybe 3 times.. You have to be playing some really evil metal to ever push it to the limit like that. If you play FAST metal, I might look into something else though.. Its an extremely reliable piece, I've hit the crap out of the plastic body when I've missed the pads and no scratches or cracks or anything. They made this indestructible! I'd recommend it to anyone who wanted a control pad but didn't want to have to hassle w/ the computer or drum module (it has a built in drum module). Also, the sounds are N O T cheap, they are very rich quality sounds.. nothing sounds fake. I give it a 10/10. Sure it has its flaws, but I cant even begin to explain all the wonderful things about this kit without another page or two. If you wanna jam out at home and even use this in you're band get it NOW!

  • its good but not exactly what I thought

As reviewed by ns on 9/13/2009

i ordered this and it came quick which is good . when i got it i setup it up and was using the pad its self and the sounds were amazing . i play deathmetal and what i wanted to use it for was "bassdrops" and bass drum trigers for an acoustic set. once i opened the bass drum trigger i tested it out .NOPE. didnt work .and all this time i was dying for the sound and it doesnt work. so if you like this for home and or messing around id say buy it because its sounds great for anything even hip-hop and very good for practicing.it works with electric drumset pedals but no pads or triggers.if you are looking for the punch of deathmetal bassdrums just save up for the dm5 even tho its more money its what works best for that and sounds good live.
