It is the first mixer I use for recording in the computer and it works great. I use it it with a condenser mic, guitar, and a fantom x8 piano and the quality of the sound it delivers to the computer is very good. You just have to find the asio driver to work with it that by the way is freeware just google it.
I read a lot of negative reviews on the Internet but decided to but the MultiMix4 anyway and give it a shot. I am very satisfied with the little unit. I am an amateur singer/songwriter/musician doing multi-track recording on laptop computer.
I use the unit with an old AKG C 1000 S condenser microphone on my son's Yamaha FG735S acoustic guitar (my vintage Guild is in Sao Paulo) and an egg. I use an inexpensive dynamic microphone for vocals. I feed the USB into MixPad without any special drivers (I just use the default USB drivers) with free trial mixer software I downloaded.
There is a slight whining in the microphones on playback but this does not affect the sound of the recording. The sound of the recorded tracks seems very good to me. I am not an experienced sound engineer. You can judge for yourself. I am "Alan Street Music" or find the song at http://www.reverbnation.com/alanstreet.
If you need phantom power and a USB interface for less than $100 do what I did -- buy it and think about it later.

This is probably the easiest piece of home recording equipment I've used. It's really as simple as plugging it in to a computer and recording. You could probably get a Behringer Eurotrack used for cheaper, but by the time you get it hooked up to your computer, it's no longer worth what you pay. The MultiMix 4 sounds great and gives you all the essential controls (high and low EQ, pan, gain and volume control) without any hassle whatsoever. I'd recommend it to anyone looking to set up a simple but effective home recording studio.
