JamDock is the first dock for iPod that was designed specifically for musicians. Nearly every musician has an iPod, but until JamDock, there has never been an easy and clean way to integrate your iPod into your practice or stage setup.
JamDock enables you to mix your iPod and your instrument and practice with headphones, amp, or PA system. You can also use your iPod to play backing tracks live. JamDock has two 1/4" inputs that work with both line-level sources and high-impedance guitars and basses. The inputs sum to mono when there is only one side present, so you'll hear your guitar on both sides of your headphones. A pair of 1/4" outputs feed your amplifier or PA system, and a 1/4" stereo output feeds your headphones.

The Alesis JamDock for the iPod has proved to be a very easy to use and useful tool. I purchased this product mostly because I wanted to be able to practice without disturbing the family, but I also bought it because it turns your amp into a massive iPod docking station. The overall set up of the dock is very simple, it features two knobs as shown in the image, and an on and off switch. So this product isn't to hard to figure out and is worth the money, my only complaint is that when trying to play along with songs that involve distortion it's hard to get a clear sound but I still highly recommend it.
Finally! A pro piece for the ipod that makes sense. On my gigs I use mp3 tracks that I arrange myself and upload to my ipod for performing out. In the past I was using a DLO home dock deluxe with the remote that worked OK but was a little cumbersome in its design It was a consumer product with the RCA plugs and jacks and so-so support for the ipod. The Jam Dock provides rock-solid support for my ipod nano along with 1/4" in's and out's into my line mixer and a quick level control if one of the tracks either barks too loud or whimpers and needs a quick boost. The practice feature is an added bonus for practicing with my tracks and phones as I can plug my EWI in and go to town. This is a great sturdy package with the good musical sound quality that Alesis has always been good at producing. Thanks for a really great product.
If your those type of musicians that move band to band and have to learn new songs which becomes a real pain, this will be your pain killer. You can load your song in and clear out or lower the volume of the specific instrument you play and practice that part of the song thus filling the gap but this is also a good product to cover some songs, i guess it can be called as a learning aid.
