A great choice for aspiring drummers everywhere.

The Alesis DM6 electronic drum set highlights the best of Alesis' 20 years of experience in professional electronic percussion instruments. This electronic drum kit features a completely redesigned sound module with 108 quality drum, cymbal, and percussion sounds. Its drum pads feel great and its hardware and rack system are built to last.

Unmistakable Alesis Feel
Like all Alesis drum sets, the DM6 features realistic, natural-feeling playing surfaces. To reduce vibration feedback, natural rubber drum and cymbal surfaces were selected for the DM6's drum pads. This 5-piece kit gets you started on a dual-zone snare pad for 2-sound compatibility. You can dial in a snare drum sound in the center and a rim click, rim shot, or something totally different like a cowbell on the rim.

The Alesis DM6 electronic drum kit also comes with 3 tom pads, an upright kick drum pad, hi-hat, crash, and ride cymbal pads. It even comes with an Alesis bass drum pedal and the kick pad is compatible with most single and double bass pedals.

Outstanding Sound
The DM6 module features an internal collection of topnotch drum, cymbal, and percussion sounds. You can edit and save your drum kits for custom sounds. You get 10 presets and 5 custom slots. In addition to the sounds, there's a USB output that sends the notes you play out as MIDI signal. This enables you to use the DM6 as a trigger-to-MIDI interface with drum-module software such as BFD, Toontrack, or Reason for a limitless collection of sounds.

The Alesis DM6 has headphone and amplifier outputs so you can play quietly in phones or connect up and rock out. You can also connect your iPod or CD player and mix it in with the DM6's stereo input jack.

Practice Tools
The DM6 module has a metronome, an essential tool for keeping steady time whether you're practicing alone or with a band. The DM6 also has a built-in sequencer with 40 preset music tracks for play along—great practice tool!

Rugged Hardware
A drum set is only as strong as its weakest link. The DM6 Kit mounts on a heavy-duty aluminum rack. The standard 1-1/2" tubing enables you to add on with Alesis and other brands' clamps and mounts. The electric drum kit also comes with a full set of mounting hardware and cables, as well as rugged kick drum and hi-hat pedals.

  • Great Drum Kit for Jamming, and Even Got it to work with Rock Band

As reviewed by Spencer Hamons on 9/12/2011

This drum kit is surprisingly well built. It was nice to find a drum kit at this price point with nice metal rack and well built pieces. The head unit is also easy to get used to and make changes to in the middle of a set. The reactions of the heads are good. While reading some reviews, some people stated that the head units didn't feel as good as some of the Roland heads out there, but then again, this entire system costs less than what one Roland drum head costs. I was able to use the USB audio output, connect through a MIDI cable to my laptop, then feed the information to my XBox and get this drum system to work with Rock Band 2 and Rock Band 3 on my XBox 360. Makes playing with my friends a lot more fun, and it really helped me learn to jam along with my favorite songs too. My wife and I have been using this unit about two years now, ever since the DM6 first hit the market. It has been played a lot and doesn't show the first sign of wear. I am surprised at how well the unit has held up and continues to play today.

  • Works pretty well for Rock Band 3 & Beginning Drums

As reviewed by Steven Walstrom on 11/28/2011

I bought this drum set for my girlfriend with the goal of using it to play Rock Band 3 and for her to begin learning to play drums. First of all, it seems to work out pretty well for just jamming on drums. For the most part, the module seems pretty easy to use, although some aspects are not completely intuitive. For example, it's advertised that the kit has forty drum kit sounds in it, but I've only been able to cycle it through 15 of them before it repeats. Some of the kits sound kind of cheesy, and it would be nice if there were options to change the sounds and levels of individual components, which I've seen on more expensive Alesis kits. The kit also seems to work pretty decently with Rock Band 3 for PS3. The MIDI-thru-USB was a little disappointing vs. a regular MIDI port, but I was able to make it work by running the drum kit into a laptop and using a USB-to-MIDI adapter cable from the laptop to the Mad Katz MIDI/RB3 adapter, using some freeware on the laptop. The only issues with the game I've found doing this is the crash and ride cymbals seem to be switched between the kit labeling and the game (not sure if this is a problem with the module, the laptop's software, or Mad Katz' adapter), and it seemes like the module has trouble sending MIDI signals when the high-hat and crash cymbals are hit at the same time.

  • Great set for new drummers

As reviewed by Charcoal21 on 10/22/2009

So i would always mess with my buddys drum set after he and his band were done practicing and made the choice to get a set of my own. The alesis DM6 is not only my first electronic drum set but my first drum set period. Althought you really can never duplicate the feel of an acoustic set, the DM6 comes close. There are plenty of sounds to make your own custom drum kits and the module itself is very easy to use, just be sure to read the manual if you are having trouble with the bass drum trigger. The snare drum is dual zoned but again does not have the feel of a real snare. Overall its a great set for a beginner like myself and plus, when the set was put together i was surprised at the size. It fits in my room comfortably Buy this set if you are looking for a cheaper Edrum set that has great quality.
