Pro-drum sound and revolutionary cymbals.

The Alesis DM5 Pro Kit with Surge Cymbals is a premium-quality electronic drum kit with revolutionary cymbals. The kit delivers pro-drum sound and familiar, comfortable playability thanks to durable, real drum heads and an amazing cymbal design.

The Surge Cymbals include a 12" Surge hi-hat, 13" Surge crash, and a 16" Surge dual-zone ride to deliver crisp, accurate response with remarkable realism. They feature a custom brass-alloy with a special, clear dampening layer to merge the look and feel of real cymbals with the flexibility of electronic cymbals.

Drummers can practice quietly with headphones, or get as loud as they need on-stage by connecting to an amplifier. The DM5 Pro Kit with Surge Cymbals is ideal for recordings or live gigs.

The DM5 Pro Kit features a self-contained, electronic drum set that includes a sturdy kick and a heavy-duty hi-hat foot pedal, snare, kick, three toms, with Surge ride, Surge crash, and Surge hi-hat cymbals, plus a rack.

The heart of this drum kit is a rack-mounted, programmable DM5 sound module with 540 percussion sounds and 21 pre-programmed drum/percussion sets. Alesis' proprietary Dynamic Articulation feature powers the DM5 Pro Kit's drum sounds to respond instantly to the force with which a pad is struck, for the most realistic and accurate playback possible.

Sounds great!

I've had my set for a couple weeks now and I love it. It sounds great. It was easy to assemble. The drum pads feel good and are very responsive. So far the only downside is that you can't choke the cymbals...at least not the ones that come stock with the set.

Excellent Set!

This set is well worth the money and then some. The sounds from the DM5 itself aren't exactly cutting-edge or fresh (it has been around for over a decade), but you can easily use outboard devices or software via midi to expand (or replace) the palate available. The SURGE cymbals are a great addition as well, offering 80% of the feel and response of acoustic cymbals rather than a foreign-feeling pad. All in all, highly recommended.

Save your money

I purchased this set less than a year ago and recently sold it, being disappointed with just about everything about this set. The DM5 module is not very user friendly and the manual is a waste of paper. I did not like the sound of the sticks hitting the cymbals and giving the sound of wood to plastic. The response is not what I had expected. Save your money and purchase a Roland set. They are worth the price difference.
