fastest way to play w/finger piks

I've used all types of finger picks, but I like Alaska piks the best because (1) I can fingerpik and strum w/o the pick flying off and, (2) It was faster learning to play with Alaska piks because they closedly resembled one's own fingernail shape and position.

never lose a pick

Once you buy this you will never have to go searching for a pick again! It might take some getting used to but your songs wont be interrupted by a pick droping on the ground, into a crack, under something, etc.

A cool pick

This pick really helps when it comes to fingerpicking. It fits snugly and lets you ring notes louder than just using your finger. It takes a bit of getting used to, but it is cool to use.

Change the way you play

This fingerpick is a really different way to play guitar. The feel for strumming and picking is so much different, but can really give you a cool tone and sound. I love using this on acoustic chord playing and on picked parts. Takes some getting used to at first but is very easy to master.

Great for strumming with the Index Finger

I often use an old blues technique, picking out the bass with my thumb and strumming with my index finger. The old plastic fingerpicks would fly off, and metal ones didn't sound good with my Martin. My fingernail alone didn't give me enough volume and didn' match the tone of my thumbpicks. The Alaska pick is perfect: volume's great and it doesn't fly off no matter how fast I strum.

Mixed reviews for a reason...had to return.

I was very hesitant to order these as the reviews were incredibly mixed. I'm sorry to say that although they tried very hard to design these correctly, they come nowhere close to glued on acrylic nails. For one they aren't rigid enough, and they design on the top of the nail area is flawed because it catches on the strings when stroking downward across all strings. Another problem is that when wearing one on the thumb, it catches on the edge underneath the thumb on the string and hooks your thumb. I was hoping they would relieve me of the difficulty of having acrylics permanently attached but no such luck. If those two design issues were addressed I may consider buying them again. The ribbed open design and underneath edges just get caught up too easy.

Pickin' an' Ah-Grinnin'

The picks are great; however, they can become uncomfortable after playing for a while. It could be a size issue as I had to guess on the size. The sound is soft like a real finger without the necessity of growing out long gnarly nails.

Better than my own fingers

After playing finger style guitar for years and having to deal with busted fingernails I saw Alaska Piks in Musician's Friend Catalogue. I thought it could't hurt to give them a try. Wow, what an improvement. No more fingernail problems. I can play faster, smoother and louder than I could before. You will need to keep your fingernails a bit longer in order to anchor the picks in place which isn't big deal. You will be able to get used to them in under an hour. If they haven't already won a prize for best new product they should. The plastic ones work best for me although the brass have a great sound too.
