Overview

MPD232 is a MIDI-over-USB pad controller designed for producers, programmers, musicians and DJs. Its blend of MPC controls and technologies mesh with USB connectivity brings the feel of classic beat making into computer music production.

Experience the Difference
The first improvement agreed upon over the development cycle were the Thick Fat MPC pads, a new design that creates an unprecedented user experience. The MPD232 also has an expanded control set of eight knobs, eight buttons and eight faders in three banks, resulting in a total of 72 total controls. This enables you increased control over your sounds and effects.

MIDI information is sent over its plug-and-play USB interface for use on Mac or PC, eliminating the need for drivers. The USB connection powers the MPD232 so the included USB cable is all you need.

Along with the improved functionality, the MPD232 features iOS compatibility using the Camera Connection Kit (sold separately) and included free software. Titles include: Akai Pro MPC Essentials, Big Bang Drums and Big Bang Cinema from Sonivox, Ableton Live Lite, and Software Preset Editor.

Many years of research and customer feedback have led directly to some of the most capable pad controllers Akai has developed. It is this constant contact with the user base that makes Akai such an enduring brand. These MPDs are the perfect bridge between your creativity and your computer-based studio.

Pros

    Cons

    • Not Functional
    • Presets Easy To Overwrite
    • Software Won't Map

Comments about Akai Professional MPD232 Pad Controller:

The layout is pretty nice. The only objection that i have is that i cannot get the MPC Essentials software to map with this device. Granted, this is an "MPD" device.
I am not the only person that has commented on this issue. If you create hardware Akai, make software that is fully functional with that hardware.

Comments about Akai Professional MPD232 Pad Controller:

          Very strong design.
Provides pretty long list of presets for different DAWs (vitrually all major DAWs).
Four virtual USB ports work in parallel with MIDI ports.
(I have integrated it into environment of Windows PC with several DAWs, Roland FA08 and Casio PX360 )

Supports specs for different types of communication with external hardware.
It comes with updated to 1.01 version of firmware(no need to update the firmware).

If you get this controller then assume that you are the professional(or at least ready to learn) and ready to configure it as you needed.(it is actually a fun thing to do)

I am sutisfied with the quality.

It would be helpfull to have LEDs for 360 knobs. That is the reason I give it only five stars :)
