Comments about Akai Professional MPC Element:
Feels amazing, looks great, super-solid build, sleek... The thing is gorgeous, really. but really underwhelming. The bundled software is cool to mess around with, and easy to get running but it's really limited... Kind to the point where it feels useless. And really, the software is part of what you're signing up for because guess what? THIS IS NOT A CONTROLLER (huge mistake by not making it one) it's an MPC assist tool. Installation not clear... you MUST register your device to get the proper installer downloaded. Would have saved me 8 hours knowing that. I was led to believe that you just needed to plug it in to register... Anyway, If you already use the MPC and need a supplement, get it. Otherwise, don't bother. It's a really fancy toy to me for that reason. I currently use Reason and Pro Tools to compose.
Comments about Akai Professional MPC Element:
So far, not good. I have used the MPC Essentials software, so I understand the limitations there. As for hardware, I'm giving this the benefit of the doubt right now, since this pad is broken out of the box. Purchased new yesterday. The feel and quality of the pad is great for the price. No, it isn't an MPC Studio, but the pads and controller are nice... The software is limited, but I know that because I already use MPC Essentials with my Akai MPK249 midi controller. The problem, it won't power on any any 1 of 3 different computers I've tried to connect it to. Also tried several cables. So obviously there is a QA issue here with this, which is why I give it a 4 star rating. I really wanted to give it 5, and if it worked out of the box like expected I probably would have. I'll be returning shortly and may revise this review.
