WARNING!

When you use USB as the power source, the midi out from the MPD24 is disabled and has no settings to correct. The mpd24 becomes your midi device. The ONLY way to use this as a true independent midi controller is to have the power supply, which is not included. Otherwise you have to settle for USB/midi, which is very inaccurate. Akai should have a setting to fix this, or remove the "professional" from the logo.

Great....

Great machine I have been using this unit for about 2 1/2 mos. I use it as pad controller for Reason and FL Studio as well as controller for Vsts in Cubase. Even though I also have a keyboard controller, I do find myself composing the whole song from this unit bypassing the keys compleately in certain situations. Power supplies are tricky to come by, but if the user goes to any local Radio Shack, take your unit inside have them look at the specs, and they usually have the right adapter and you are on your way!!!!

worth the money

I just purchased my unit 2 days ago and i must admit, it's pretty impressive. Looks, touch, response, everything! I'm using it with Reasons 3.0 and my sole purpose for buying the unit was for drum sequencing. After spending hours on playing and configuring, my only problem is not being able to use the midi ports w/out the power adapter. Which, wouldn't be so bad, if the adapter wasn't so hard to find. Other than that, it's very well worth the money. I'm currently searching on the internet and local music stores to find one but, i'm not having any luck. If anyone know where I can purchase the right adapter for this unit I'd appreciate it.

Pretty solid.

I purchased this product mainly because I wanted to add a MIDI controller (any MIDI controller) to my setup. I was pleased with how it worked. I liked the sliders and the knobs particularly for programing automation in FL Studio. I took it back only because I felt that a keyboard MIDI device would be a more intuitive surface for me to work on. If I could have afforded it, I would have kept it as well as bought the keyboard.
