Akai Professional MPC500 Portable Music Production Center (104011366)
Availability:

A truly portable sampling sequencer with a battery powered design.

The Akai MPC500 Music Production Center can be powered by 6 AA batteries allowing producers to work outside the studio with familiar Akai features and functions. The included AC power adapter along with the high-quality construction, sound, and feel will make it a great small sound editing and production unit in the studio. This compact-yet-full-featured music production center features a 48-track, 16-channel MIDI sequencer and 32-voice drum/phrase sampler with 16-bit/44.1kHz fideilty. The sequencer supports standard MIDI file format and the sampler accepts WAV files. The MPC500 provides 12 velocity-sensitive pads for triggering sounds and has Akai's legendary 12 Levels function which allows one sound to be assigned to all the pads with varied level or tuning per pad. The MPC500 music synth provides numerous onboard effects plus two stereo effects sends and a Master control. The MPC500 uses up to 128MB RAM via the same EXM128 memory expansion used on the popular MPC1000 and MPC2500. The CF Card slot will allow users to backup their data, which can then be loaded directly into a MPC1000 or 2500 making the family of new MPC's fully compatible. The USB port allows you to transfer .wav files and .mid files or MPC sequence files in and out of the Akai MPC500 or connect an external hard drive.

With our Guaranteed Lowest Price, you can be assured of complete satisfaction and the lowest available price, or your money back!

  • Little Beast

As reviewed by CubanJamaicanMashUp on 12/21/2006

As a one time owner and user of every MPC known to man (minus the 1000), I have to say that this Akai MPC 500 is a great tool! It can't, nor was it designed to replace it's bigger brothers but it most definitely compliments them. Now I can chill at Starbucks sipping a soy chai latte while I tap out the skeletons to a track that I will enhance and lace up as soon as I get in front of the MPC 2500. This would not be my first MPC however. The 1000 is the way to go if you're just jumping into the MPC game but the 500 is the "mini-me" of the whole operation. It's a bad boy y'all, but remember it's designed to compliment an existing rig not replace one...

  • MPC 500s Portability Outweighs its Compatition

As reviewed by Lenserbot on 10/9/2006

You've drempt of yourself portably producing... On the road, In an airplane, even on the toilet! Now with the MPC 500 you can do all that and more. Despite the lack-o-pads consider possibility of sampling at the record store itself. Im litteraly drooling noodles contomplating the endless sequences.

  • A little Correction

As reviewed by Revolt on 10/10/2006

For those interested in purchasing the MPC500, it's been available in stores since the begining of the month. No other retailer will have it for another 4-5 weeks. I know this, because I work for the company. It's an awesome piece of gear. If your intended use is complete beat production, i wouldn't recomend this for that kind of studio application. It is, however a great buy, it has many similar features as the 1000, but will not work with files from the 2000 or 2500. The face that it's battery powered makes it amazing for traveling and small setups. It's most def worth it. Look into it, and stop by the store when you can if you want to mess around with it a little. _revolt
