Akai EXM128 128MB RAM Expansion Card  MUST HAVE!
$299.00 $149.00

Rock-solid sequencing and drum programming machine with 16 velocity- and pressure-sensitive rubber pads.

The Akai MPC2500 Music Production Center combines a 64-track MIDI sequencer with a 32-voice, 16-bit stereo digital sampler in one extremely powerful desktop unit.

The Akai MPC2500 has 2 internal effects processors that can be used simultaneously. They include a wide range of effects algorithms, such as reverb, delay, bit grunger, chorus, phasers, flying pan, 4-band EQ, compressor, and a phase shifter.

Realtime control is provided by 2-note variation sliders and 2 Q-Link knobs that can be separately assigned to allow flexible, realtime performance control of a wide variety of selectable parameters. These parameters include level, pan, filter cut-off and resonance, and tuning. Each assignable Q-Link knob can generate MIDI data so that parameter information can be recorded and played back from within a sequence.

2 MIDI inputs and 4 MIDI outputs come standard on the Akai Music Production Center, enabling 64 external MIDI channel operation. In addition, the MPC2500 can individually control its onboard sampler with up to 64 parts, allowing users to assign a different program on each track.

A large LCD screen allows a clear view of sequence data. Continuous MIDI data can also be shown, as well as edited, graphically.

Comes with 16MB of onboard memory which can be expanded up to 128MB of RAM via the optional EXM128 memory card ( sold separately. Optional CD-M25 drive adds CD burning capability (sold separately) .

Reconsider Your Purchase

First off, I would like to write that i have been an avid AKAI user for years, and have had nothing but positive experiences during my production / creative process / career. However, I purchased the MPC 2500 and had HORRIBLE experiences with the operating system. I actually sold my perfectly good working MPC 2000 xl, for the MPC 2500, which in appearance and specs looks great - but found out the harsh reality down the road. I would constantly have problems with saving, both during the sampling phase, as well as the programing phase, as well as MAJOR difficulties with 16 notes and pitch shifting on the fly when sequencing sounds into a track. It got to the point where pretty much ever other time i would begin working on stuff, I would have to shut off the MPC into the creative process, because it would malfuntion so bad, and in turn loose all creative drive and energy to restart the project / beat... I sold it for FAR more than what i paid for it, just to get it off my hands, and am now looking for another MPC 2000 xl. Oh yeah, another thing i found out, is the MPC 2500 is no longer REALLY made by AKAI., Numark Bought out AKAI and has probably been cutting corners which ultimetely hurts the very people that purchase the gear and support their company... Just some food for thought

AWSOME!!!!!

The Akai 2500 is my first mpc. I never even played around with one before. With in a 30 min I was makein beats. This machine is extremly user friendly. From the research I did when I was shopping around for a mpc the 2500 seems to be compareable to the 4000 and the 2500 cost less. If you are into makeing beats and producing your own music this is the machine for you. AAAA++++++

New to this

I have had my mpc for over a year and still learn something new every time I get on it. It is easy to use once you get over the learning curve. Any time I have tried to do or wanted to do something new figuring it out and applying it was a snap. The manual is straight forward and easy to use. It even has instructions on upgrading the hardware (CD, HDD, etc.). I think it is perfect for a beginner.

MPC2500 IS THE NEXT GENERATION MIDI PRODUCTION CEN

I really like the chop shop feature on the 2500. Also the 4 midi outs on the back are very useful. I can be more creative with the direct record feature. This feature allows the user to record Mics, guitars and intruments right into a sequence. A creative mind can do a lot with this feature. The MPC2500 IS A HOT ITEM. BUY ONE OF THESE JOINTS!!!!

The king of drum machines!

The MPC 2500 offers more than any other drum machine I've encountered. Blows away all competition by a long shot! User friendly, a GREAT chop shop feature, direct recording, and the Q-Slider for pitch changes on the fly! If you have an imgaination and a creativity, this machine is for you! A must own in any production studio! Most say the MV is an "MPC killer." While that is a great machine, don't fall into the hype. Akai is where it's at!
