If ur Serious about making ur Music u Need One...
The Mpc1000 is probaly the Most easiest peice of equipment to use. i came over from the software world i mostly used reason 3.0 to create some music, and as soon as i got this peice i was on my way. ive only had this lil monster for about a month but ive made my best music with it so far. when it comes to sampling , and programing , and sequence ur samples nothing is easier athan the 1000. i was debatin to get the 2500 or the 1000 and im very happy i purchased the 1000, besides the point i saved 1,000.00, the mpc1000 is def for a serious beat maker...

Affordable powerhouse!
If you're wanting to make beats and tap out the beat rather than just line it up in a software application, this is the machine for you. The Akai MPC1000 is about the size of a laptop but packs a big punch. It's MIDI interoperability comes in handy when used in conjunction with a keyboard and/or MIDI controller and rack mount or VSTs. One of my favorite features is the layering: You can assign up to four samples to one pad to layer them up. This helps make deeper bass, heavier kicks, awesome snares and unique sounds. I suggest you get the RAM expansion. You will pretty much need it when dealing with massive drum programs. The only thing I miss on the MPC1000 is the full-size pads featured on the bigger MPC2500 and others. Overall this is a great machine and very versatile. For beginners and pros!

mpc2500? why bother?! MPC100 IS THE GREATEST!
The MPC1000 is fantastic! It is truly a compact version of the mpc2500. The new O.S on the mpc 1000 enables new features such as the ability to slice samples, create patched phrases, timestretch, Pitch Shift, and Reverse samples, and tons of other new features. The only downside whcih isnt really that much of a problem is that unlike the other MPC's the 1000's screen can not tilt. Other then that the MPC is a very powerful sampler/seqeuncer and a good addtion to any producers studio!

Gotta love that MPC sound
Akai's MPC series is pretty much the hip-hop essential. The MPC1000 makes it easy to learn enough to get started but has nice features to keep you learning. It's small and powerful and despite lacking a few features I really like on the 2000 version, it's a great machine. There is some kind of magic hoodoo inside this box that makes your samples sound better than what you put in. I used to use it exclusively for hip-hop but now have managed to make weirdo folktronic rock soundscapes with it. Brilliant product, it'll be around for a long time. My only beef is it saves to memory card and when you connect it to a computer via USB the MPC gets locked into slave mode and is useless. Would've been cooler if you could move back and forth between MPC and computer easier - but whatever, those beats are slammin'.

That MPC Sound
Back in the 80s, Rodger Linn knew what he was doing. His ideas still shape production gear, and the original MPC was his brainchild. From the first MPC on, these devices are classics, and the MPC1000 certainly continues this tradition. Having previousely used a MPC2000 and MPC2000xl, i found working on the smalelr device almsot exactly the same. Same great sound, similar OS, rad hardware interface.. The MPC1000 is a device that can take your backing tracks and sequenced parts to the next level - provided you take the time to get into the deceptively simple OS.
