I have used the 5A sticks for about a month and a half now and these are by far my favorite pair of sticks. I have tried all the brands, (Vic Firth, Pro Mark, Zildjian, Reagal) but these ahead sticks take the top spot. Sure they may be $30 but within a year you really save the money. With the time I have been using these sticks, I would have already went through one pair, and these still look fine. The replacement sleeves are only $3.50 so you save $5 every time. My hands and wrists have also felt better because I have noticed that you get less vibration from these sticks which is a great feature. Also they do not make your cymbals look like they have a layer of dirt on them, they stay clean which is nice because everyone wants their kit to shine. I highly recommend these to anyone who is serious about drumming, consider it a great investment.

I am a professional drummer and play on my set about 10 hours a week. I decided to give these a try since it seemed they would last a very long time. They feel great in your hand and have just enough weight to give good momentum in rolls and such. The only problem is the tips. They screw on and are continually coming off and shredding my drum heads before I notice. I have tried torquing them down but that doesn't stop it from happening. It has happened 5 times in the last 2 months. Twice at a gig. I have had to replace my snare drum head twice now. You have any idea how frustrating it is to have your drum stick cut a hole in your snare head in the middle of a concert. SERIOUS BUMMER. I have decided to give up on the large investment on 3 pairs and go back to wood.

They are very good!

By kdrummaman13

from pocatello, idaho

Comments about Ahead Drumsticks:

Ahead drumsticks are awsome drumsticks. They make it easier to play. The sticks reduce vibrations and last a lot longer. the only problem is that they are rub on your hands more. so if you use them use the griptape or the drumming gloves. I used the 5a and think its an awsome brand, lasts alot longer and has less vibrations.

The best sticks I own

By Trent

from Grand Rapids MI

Comments about Ahead Drumsticks:

The Ahead sticks are the perfect stick for the all around drummer, if you want a lighter more ccrisp sound simply buy a smaller pair or different sized head. These are the only sticks I have that have ever lasted for longer than a month. I play loud and aggresively so I need something to last theses sticks do that for me. but when I'm playin lite I can play that too with a smaller sized ahead.

The Best For Sure!!

By FullViewFailure666

Comments about Ahead Drumsticks:

I bought the Joey Jordison Ahead Signatures for $35, i thought it was a waste of money, but man was i wrong. these are the most durable sticks i have ever had. The aluminum core and handle gives you a much better feel when playing. Im 14, and have been playng since i was 4, and these are for sure the best sticks in the world.

Golden

By Sherman Messer

from Kyle,Texas

Comments about Ahead Drumsticks:

I had my sticks for four years and now I finally have to buy a new pair. They broke almost in the center but as I have stated, they have been great for four years. They are light, tough, and in the long run cheaper. The only problem I have encountered was trying to buy a replacement ring. Other than that, this is a great, if not must, buy. Hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

Worth the investment

By Ty

from Muncie, IN

Comments about Ahead Drumsticks:

I had faithfully played with Pro-Mark sticks for years until a fellow drummer gave me a pair of the Lars model Ahead sticks. They were a little heavy for my taste, but I loved the feel and response that I got out of them, so I set out on a mission to find the right pair for me. After a few hours of finding drum heads, playing Frisbee with them, and testing out almost every style of Ahead stick at my local Guitar Center, I finally found the right set for me. I will swear by these sticks, and I wouldn't tour without them. Bottom line, get some!

Comments about Ahead Drumsticks:

These sticks are amazing, i bought a pair of 5A's about 4 years ago and i still have them and i only changed the sleeves a few times. they are very durable, there pretty light and they dont have any vibrations like traditional wood sticks. these are perfect for aggressive rock-metal drummers looking for a stick that will get the job done, i highly recomend these to anyone who doesnt want to keep buying wood sticks.

They Broke...

By John Holmquist

from Monroe, WA

Comments about Ahead Drumsticks:

I had played the sticks for about 4 months without replacement. After that, they broke. I was drumming at about 160 bpms when one of them snapped right at the top of the aluminum. I have had Vic Firths that lasted for 5 months. The price is not justified. I have also heard that the sticks can cause hand problems. My hands have started to hurt after playing for an hour or so.

Best sticks I've ever touched

By Bucky

from Edgerton, WI

Comments about Ahead Drumsticks:

AWESOME, totally awesome!! The people at Easton/Ahead really did there homework on this one. I bought these sticks about 2 months ago and just last night I noticed some small, almost unnoticable cracks on the tips. These tips are way cheaper than buying 25 - 30 pairs of wood sticks a month. I play hard, REALLY hard. Most people would say to hard, but hey thats my style! I was breaking Vic Firths left and right, three in an hour once. The covers are in great shape, very few marks or dents. So, If you play hard and break alot of sticks these babies are for YOU! Trust me.

very durable

By drum doc

from Oklahoma

Comments about Ahead Drumsticks:

I like these sticks simply because they last a long time. I do recomend putting grip tape on or wearing gloves because I had a friend break a pair and the bottom part of the stick shattered in his hand and had pieces of metal slice his hands up pretty bad. And also cross sticks and rim shots don't sound to great, but all in all a great pair of practice sticks

Comments about Ahead Drumsticks:

All in all, these drumsticks are about as high quality as anyone could want. I'm a very heavy hitter (I generally break a good, $15 pair of wooden 5B sticks in about an hour), so I turned to metal sticks out of necessity, not desire. There's not much of a difference in sound; the nylon tips are the same tips on any other pair of sticks you'd buy. That said, they're very, very inflexible, meaning that they have little give to them. This leads to cracked cymbals, and, from time to time, broken heads. However, these are once-in-a-blue-moon occurrences. They don't feel like metal (they almost remind me of the texture on a steering wheel in an old car), they don't break easily (I have yet to break the pair that I've owned for two months), and they sound fine.

The Best Out Here

By DrummerGyrl

from Fort Wayne, IN

Comments about Ahead Drumsticks:

I have been using the 5A sticks for about seven years. Although I have bought and replaced others, I still go back to the Ahead sticks. I still have the original pair. The best part about it is the fact that I play at least twice a week, so the sticks are worth more than the pirce. I also was able to begin playing the drums two weeks after breaking my wrist, and the Ahead sticks are what got me threw. Ahead sticks helps any drummer improve on so many levels.

A MUST HAVE FOR ALL DRUMMERS

By JReyes87

from San Jose, CA

Comments about Ahead Drumsticks:

I recently bought the ahead 5B drumsticks. Since it didn't feel like wood i thought that they wouldn't be as good. After trying them, I know that I'll never go back to any other sticks. They are great quality sticks that will last you longer than any others. It is well worth its price. Ahead drumsticks are highly recomended for all drummers.

Never back to wood

By a9712353@yahoo.com.mx

from Tampico, Mexico

Comments about Ahead Drumsticks:

You won't believe that aluminium sticks with plastic covers will sound like wood on all the drumset, cymbals and percussion, but these sticks are really great. There's no more vibration in my hands, the strokes are smooth, awesome sound in cymbals (for crashing and bell sound). The price is little expensive compared to wood, but last longer than wood sticks (three or four wood pairs), and the replacement covers are cheap. You will have a new pair of sticks only for 3 or 4 bucks. I'll never back to wood. I'm thinking buy another model. I have the Tico Torres model. You really have to try it.

Nice Sticks

By Drums4Life

from St. Clair Shores, MI

Comments about Ahead Drumsticks:

These sticks are really good. They're light, evenly balanced, and really durable. The tips of sticks I've used in the past have chipped or broken off which have forced me to buy another pair. If the tips somehow break, the sweet thing is you can replace them! You also feel less of the vibrations you get when you strike a head or cymbal. They may seem expensive for a pair of sticks, but in the long run, you save money.

INCREDIBLE

By EJ Novak

from Pittsburgh

Comments about Ahead Drumsticks:

Honestly, they're the best sticks money can buy. Buying extra sleeves is way better than buying a new pair of sticks. Its so simple to remove the heads and sleeves to replace them. The only bad thing about them is if you dont secure the tips on with super glue or teflon tape, they will fly off. Its terrible when you don't notice it because the threads will give a beating to your drum heads. so far, the pair i've had for 2 years, i've broken the entire tip off of the stick, not just the nylon. If you get these, make sure you replace the sleeves when they get real choppy or you could break a cymbal. They are definitely the best sticks you will ever buy.
