Overview

Based on the respected OBP-3 preamp, Aguilar's Tone Hammer features fully sweepable midrange frequencies in addition to bass and treble controls. With the Tone Hammer's pristine DI you are set for the studio or the stage.

To give this tone shaping preamp the ultimate flexibility, Aguilar added their proprietary Adaptive Gain Shaping circuitry (AGS) to the preamp. AGS allows the player to kick in an additional gain structure and EQ with the "stomp" of a button. You can now go from modern slap sounds to vintage or overdriven.

18-volt operation gives the Aguilar Tone Hammer plenty of headroom to reproduce the most dynamic playing style. Separate Gain and Master controls allow you to dial in just the right gain structure for any instrument.

Pro Grade Pre Amp/DI

By metalinthenight

Comments about Aguilar Tone Hammer Bass Preamp/Direct Box:

I bought this preamp because I needed a DI that I could use from my pedal board and I thought that I could use the EQ in the studio as well. I was NOT disappointed. It does so much more than just "EQ" my sound. This pedal deepened my lows and soothed out the highs of my six string bass, something I have been struggling with for some time. The "AGS" side of the pedal can go from subtle (I mean real subtle) gain to full on nasty overdrive. Just watch out for the volume boost in AGS mode. I like this box so much I leave it on all of the time. I can't wait to bring it into the studio, because so far the DI has been silent on stage. I'd recommend this pedal to anyone.

Fantastic pedal!!

Comments about Aguilar Tone Hammer Bass Preamp/Direct Box:

This has completely replaced my amp and cab. Yes, I have neither when I play live-just this pedal, along with a volume and chorus pedal. The best part, besides my entire rig fitting in a duffle bag, is that I have the best tone since I've been playing (1995). The mids are totally undistorted through my in-ear monitors, the overdrive (AGS) is phenomenal and my sound is simply vicious, clear, and cutting. This thing is built like a tank, too. I HIGHLY recommend this product.
