I'm coming from the perspective of a guy who never liked active basses. They always went too tinny, too boomy, or too honky, especially Schecter's standard onboards. Well... I have one of these buggers installed in a Schecter CV-5 prototype 5 string and it sings! It has a J / MM Kent Armstrong pickup set and looks a bit like an oversized MM Bongo. It's got all the versatility I'll need. I usually avoid touching preamps, but this one makes me want to tweak to get that extra 10% on top. I'm not afraid I'll pierce my eardrums with treble or blow my speakers with bass if I turn the knobs. It's classier than that. You can tweak it subtly in a way that I only want to call jazzy. It's smooth with the roll on and never over the top. A+ product! Only thing I'd like more from it is a 1khz standard on the mid frequencies, but that's an admittedly uncommon personal preference.
