The P11A Powered Studio Monitor from ADAM Audio is a two-way shielded active monitor that produces unique imaging and outstanding transient response at an attractive price. The P11A monitor was primarily designed for small to mid-sized project studios; however, it can also be used comfortably in any application where a small powered monitor is called for, from broadcast/post applications to surround monitoring.
Two built-in 100W amplifiers are individually housed and exhibit excellent dynamic behavior due to their low output impedance, leading to a damping factor >400. They represent a new audio performance oriented approach to amplification and combine excellent sound quality with cool operation. On the back panel additional controls for level and room EQ are offered. The P11A powered monitor is magnetically shielded.
Accelerated Ribbon Technology
The A.R.T. (Accelerated Ribbon Technology) tweeters and midrange units take a completely new approach in kinematics to move air and improve the quality of music reproduction. Based on the original works of Dr. Oskar Heil, who invented his "Air Motion Transformer" back in 1972, new electro-acoustic transducers have been developed that are based on improved layouts and new materials. The membrane consists of a lamella like folded diaphragm whose single folds move according to the alternate current, thus squeezing air in and out. All other loudspeaker drive units, whether they are voice coil driven, electrostatics, piezos or magnetostatics, act like a piston, moving air in a 1:1 ratio. This is undesirable, as the specific weight of air is much lower than that of the driving mechanics. Speaking in terms of electrical Engineering one could say there is a bad match between source and load. The A.R.T. principle achieves a 4:1 velocity transformation between driving diaphragm and driven air, i. e. the air moves in and out four times faster than the folds itself are moving. This superior "motor" is responsible for the enormous clarity and transient reproduction that is to be heard from the A.R.T. drive units.
A.R.T. tweeters are superior in musical clarity and transient reproduction. They have an above average efficiency of 93 dB/W/m, a perfectly linear impedance of 3.2 ± 0.05 Ohms, an equally perfect phase response of ± 1 within the used bandwidth, a reasonable directivity characteristic and a thermal power handling that exceeds that of 1" domes by a factor of 2 to 3. Summed up here is a completely new transducer that has no weaknesses in terms of operation, compatibility, reliability or other electro-acoustic specifications. Looking back into loudspeaker history you will not find anything comparable.

Comments about ADAM Audio P11A Powered Studio Monitor:
I have a friend who owns a recording studio. He has a pair of these and a sub that can be used with them. I thought I had heard good mixes before, but when you listen to these Adams you will realize something really was missing. The sweet spot. I have been fortunate to hear a lot of mixes and masterings's, and I will have to say this could be the best I've ever heard. My friend had to set up an appointment with a company just to come in and test these and other monitors. He was ready to leave empty handed. As he was leaving he noticed the Adam's. Hooked them up with the sub and the rest is history. He is mastering some of best music and cd's of our time. These speakers aren't for the squimish. They are the real thing. If you have the cash, you couldn't do better than a pair of Adams. P.S. Look no further!
