AWESOME Practice Amp

By David Hazlewood

from Tampa, FL.

Comments about Acoustic Lead Guitar Series G20 20W 1x10 Guitar Combo Amp:

I recently purchased an Acoustic 20W Lead practice amp at the Guitar Center in Tampa, FL. I had already ordered another practice amp online, but it was temp. out of stock and had to be backordered. Just by chance, I dropped by the store in Tampa to see if they had one in stock even if it was a display model. It was only 10W and did not have the mid-shift control that the Acoustic Amp had. Now, Alan (Big Al)Stewart came to my rescue! He showed me the Acoustic practice Amp that 10 extra watts and the mid-shift control, also, it was only $5.00 more than the one I ordered! When I got it home, I put it through its' paces. I was amazed at the tone, the "brown" sounds I could get with the mid-shift control, and the ease of "tweaking" the amp for the different sounds I was able to access. Kudos to "Big Al" once more for his professionalism and knowledge of products!

Comments about Acoustic Lead Guitar Series G20 20W 1x10 Guitar Combo Amp:

This amp can not be beat. It is loud and full of tone. Got this for a small practice amp to haul back and forth, but find myself using it at home most of the time. I like the simplicity of the controls...nothing digital or complicated to mess up!!!

can't beat it if you know what you're after.

Comments about Acoustic Lead Guitar Series G20 20W 1x10 Guitar Combo Amp:

So I was tooling around at my local GC looking for a nice basic amp, I purchased a Fender Mustang Floor a while back, but was running it through a set of PC speakers. I've been saving up for a half stack, but I couldn't do the PC speakers anymore. I tried out a few different amps, but they all had effects built in that I didn't want or need. I had heard of acoustic, but that was it. I tried it out...man I loved it, It lacks reverb, but my mustang floor makes up for that. I wanted something to hold me over until I can get my stack. I'm happy and not in as big a hurry now. this little 20watt amp packs some volume. The gain channel isn't bad, got a nice fuzz overdrive tone to it...but again, I have a floor unit so I have no need for that. I'd say this amp is very good for a practice amp, even a small gig. It has a nice 3.5mm input jack for hooking up your media player and a 3.5 headphone out. I am actually going to look at the Acoustic heads and cabs. If you're looking for a straight up amp without extra bells and whistles, that's not very big and still packs a punch...go for the G20...it's nice.

Comments about Acoustic Lead Guitar Series G20 20W 1x10 Guitar Combo Amp:

I purchased this for an inside practice amp, since my 2 tear VOX (cathode relic) is in the garage as It takes up to much room. This little amp is Perfect, Plenty of Volume, Good Tone. The 10" speaker @ 20 Watts puts out great Bass and Crisp clear highs. Best of all a small a small footprint, you can put it almost anywhere.

Acoustic G20 guitar combo

By Timothy Janto

from Newark, NY

Comments about Acoustic Lead Guitar Series G20 20W 1x10 Guitar Combo Amp:

I purchased this amp a little over a week ago and I am largely pleased for the price and size it sound very good with a full sound and no overly grittiness or dullness that tend to be found in most Solid State amps. It can handle a number of different musical styles well. I was particularly impress with the Metal tone something that can be a challenge for a small solid state amp. It is also built well and should last awhile. There are some down sides the most obvious is the lack of any built in effects but this can be taken care of with an after marked stomp box or go up to the G35FX. The other down side is the amp doesn't sound all that good through the headphone jack. Sounding much more digital than through the speaker. This amp is rated at 20W but could compete with most 50W amps in terms of volume. Overall a great amp at a great price well worth picking up if your looking for a small amp or even a medium size combo amp.

Best Little Amp I Have Ever Played

By Michael Wells

from Lexington, KY

Comments about Acoustic Lead Guitar Series G20 20W 1x10 Guitar Combo Amp:

I was looking for a nice small practice amp, because dragging out the 45 pound Marshall Hybrid everyday was just getting to be too much. I had two before that I traded in on a guitar. I had a Fender Frontman 15G and a Randall Minion 15R. The Randall was much better than the Fender. But when I got this Acoustic G-20 and plugged it in, I was shocked. First is the tone. Depending upon the guitar you have, you can really get any tone out of this amp without pedals. I cannot say enough good things about the midshift button!! It rocks. The controls are very sensitive so you can dial in just the right sound you want. Second was the loudness. It is very loud. I never turn it up past 2 when I am practicing alone. This would be a great amp for band rehearsal or playing a small bar. Lastly, it feels very sturdy and well made and it comes with a year warranty. I never knew Acoustic made guitar amps, I always thought of them as a great bass amp company, boy was I wrong. I have a feeling this will be on of those word of mouth type of things. You have to hear it to believe it. I am playing a Dean Custom 350 Floyd and a Dean Dave Mustaine AOD2 thru it, without any pedals at all.

Comments about Acoustic Lead Guitar Series G20 20W 1x10 Guitar Combo Amp:

This is my second amp but I really don't really count this one because it was a cheap honey tone amp.But let me just say I was not expecting it to be as loud as it was I love it. It has such great quality and can definitely keep up with my drums. Especially because I got it when it was on sale made it an amazing deal. I greatly recommend this amplifier to be bought.

Nice amp, but 8 inch not 10

By BRUCE KAY

from Storrs, CT

Comments about Acoustic Lead Guitar Series G20 20W 1x10 Guitar Combo Amp:

A very nice little amp, does what I need it to do. It gives a nice clean loud sound and is lightweight (16 lbs.), half the weight of the old 50 watt tuber I was tired of lugging around and never going past 1 with. I use it in practices (no drummer) and as an stage monitor at our usual prison gig (with a long walk to/from the venue through multiple checkpoints, must minimize the load). The clean channel sounds great with my Hagstrom Viking and my 5-string electric fiddle. The lead channel is pretty unusable for me, too electronic sounding (tubes rule). Certainly a great deal at $70. One beef: it's clearly not a 10 inch speaker, as they claim--I measured it at just over 8 inches. Sounds fine and does the job anyway so I'll keep it.

great little practice amp

By Phillip Rowe

from Struthres.Ohio

Comments about Acoustic Lead Guitar Series G20 20W 1x10 Guitar Combo Amp:

I recently purchased this amp to go along with my Ibanez AEG-20 acoustic/electric.Although designed for solid-body electrics.it performed quite well with the hollow-body Ibanez on the rhythm channel.it did have a problem on the lead channel with a constant howling feed-back however. The phase switch(which is designed to correct feed-back didn't really help).Stangely.when I plugged in the headphones all feed-back problems went away ,even at high gain settings!Still it is a good amp and even includes a paper that suggests various settings to get a particular sound. For 70 bucks you really can't go wrong in a solid practice amp.

Great Amp!

By Steven Shinofield

from Russell KS

Comments about Acoustic Lead Guitar Series G20 20W 1x10 Guitar Combo Amp:

I ordered this a little more than two weeks ago, and I when it arrived, I was immediately excited about it. It is a larger amp than I expected, but it has amazing sound quality on all settings. I play a wide range of music, from clean electric to heavy metal, and this amp sounds great on all of them. The amp alone can make some pretty decent metal distortion, and it works really great with the pedal I use. The headphone jack doesn't need an adapter to use, so I can practice whenever I want, and not worry about bothering people. I love this amp, and I recommend it to anyone who wants great quality at a low price!

Comments about Acoustic Lead Guitar Series G20 20W 1x10 Guitar Combo Amp:

Saw this on sale at GC for $44.99. Yes... $44.99. I like it because it is a simple amp for practice. I am a beginner and this suits me well. I think the tone is better than the Fender Mustang without all the effects. Sometimes you just want to practice and hear the notes without any effects. Great practice amp.

Comments about Acoustic Lead Guitar Series G20 20W 1x10 Guitar Combo Amp:

First off, I am just a novice, and I have been playing guitar for 8 years. I have finally gotten past using modeling amps that are loaded down with so many effects that they require hours of downloading and programming to set up the "right" sound. I traded in my Line6 amp and bought some cheap stomp boxes and the "very inexpensive" Acoustic G20 amp. The G20 can provide very clean sound, which is a good place to start. Once I kick in each effect, I can actually hear how the sound is being changed. The G20 can also get plenty loud without changing the character of the sound. I haven't decided if I will keep my stomp boxes. I might trade them for a simple multi-effects pedal. But I am definitely holding on to my Acoustic G20 amp.

Comments about Acoustic Lead Guitar Series G20 20W 1x10 Guitar Combo Amp:

For quite a while I thought about getting a stereo guitar setup. When I saw the sale price of the G20 I grabbed two. I have a few stereo guitar effects pedals, so I come out of a pedal into a each amp. Sounds quite nice... and even the mono effects sound better coming from two locations. At this price point I'm quite satisfied.

Comments about Acoustic Lead Guitar Series G20 20W 1x10 Guitar Combo Amp:

I gave my Blackstar id20 to my son with the intent to buy the 40 watt version. I really like how it works with my Digitech RP500 and I am able to get some really nice tones out of that amp. On a whim I bought this G20 at an "open box price" 20 bucks below the already ridiculously low price tag. This is the best bargain on the market. I saw some reviews that complained about the metal tones not being sufficient but if you dime the EQ settings it does sound a bit muddy. However, when I found the manual on line and dialed in the recommended settings, for different genres of music and I found a tight, modern metal tone that was very usable. Excellent for drop tuned distorted tones. The other setting recommendations were excellent, as well.

I primarily use this amp with my RP500 on the Rhythm channel. It works very well with my pedal. This amp is very responsive. You get that snap sensation when playing leads. It is also very loud amp. Much louder than my Blackstar.

When I first bought this amp I considered swapping out he speaker. However, after a week of playing it several hours per day and breaking the speaker in, I don't feel the need to this right now. It is an open back amp so swapping speakers would be very easy to do. One more comment about the volume of this amp. I have a Fender Vibro Champ that is 15 watts. Being a tube amp it is very loud. Louder that any other 20-30 watt solid state amp I've ever owned...except this one.

My guess is that this is of plywood construction fortified with very solid hard rubber and vinyl materials. It's a rugged little beast and for the price you have nothing to lose.

This little amp is LOUD. I play my Takamine (1982) acoustic through it. I appreciate the Lead channel and the regular rhythm channel. There is a lot of versatility built into a small compartment. The 10" speaker does a great job, and I can practice my Mosrite bass on it too.
