I find that most reviews are about how the amp doesn't fit super hard metal band or hard rock band. I am not a rocker. I am a country picker and rhythm player. I use a Fender® Telecaster Custom guitar. I like D'Addario strings because of their warmth and not so much shrill treble. I finger pick a lot and I use a thin pick also. I had been playing through a 1986 Peavey Bandit 112 Scorpion since I bought it new, and the power board finally died, so I wanted something that had that country sound like it did. I tried some 1-12 and 2-12 Fenders, but the controls and tone were a little flat line and had no perk to the sound at all. Probably would be good for a Strat in a rock band, but, not for country. So I bought this Accoustic® 120. I got it home and started playing and I played around with the tone controls for about an hour and it came right in to that sound I was looking for. For my band it may be a little on the loud side but with proper stage placement, it will do nicely. If you are looking for a really clean sound to do some strumming and picking, this is the one you are looking for to make that sound. One funny thing when I was tuning it up. It started buzzing like a speaker was bad and the paper cone was torn. I tried everything, even calling the store and telling them, and I was going to take it back. But I loved this thing so much, that I wanted to find out why it was buzzing on certain notes. It tuned out that the packing people threw two bags of those crystals into the cabinet. They happened to land between the speaker frame and the cone. Once I took those out, everything was Jake. I am gonna love this amp. I hope I can find a cover for it somewhere. Seems that covers are that easy to find anymore.

I am a weekend guy who does not play much any more. I was looking for an inexpensive amp that got good ratings. I went to my local GC fairly certain I would take this home. When I demo amps in the store I always set the EQ halfway and all volume controls down before I even turn on the power. I started off with the clean channel and noticed it was pretty loud as soon as I began turning up the volume knob. I switched to the OD channel and turned up its volume and was so startled I almost dropped the guitar. You know those dots that surround the knob... before the indicator even reached the first dot it was very very loud. I played with it for a few more minutes seeing how hard it would be to keep a lid on the volume but I never got to really listen to its sound quality. I knew I would never be able to use this at home. If you are thinking of a practice amp for home you may want to pass this one by but if you want something loud for playing out definitely check it out. I ended up trying the Yamaha THR10 and it seemed loud with very good sound quality even while I played through it in the large main store display area. I ended up ordering the Yamaha, it should be plenty loud for me and a lot easier to carry if I ever need to leave the house with an amp.

update on Acoustic Lead Guitar Series G120 DSP 120W Guitar Combo Amp

By ruben trevino

from katy, tx

Comments about Acoustic Lead Guitar Series G120 DSP 120W Guitar Combo Amp:

I had this amp since the beginning of February and have used it heavily in rehearsals, gigs, and even in major league texas thunderstorms, and it has performed perfectly. I am happy and glad this unit can take a pounding and still perform well. At first I thought that having to manually change the effect settings on the fly would be a major drag, but its much better than I thought. Most of us have a number of effects we use during a song if even that much, but I've adapted to use one effect during a song if needed and concentrate more on my playing and enjoying the jams. And, using a Live Wire 2 button footswitch makes things easier simply on or off! Keep It Simply Stupid (KISS) is the operative word here, I dont know about other guitarists, but I believe we can get caught up on to much tech, and miss out on more pure guitar playing. This amp or any amp can do that, but its reliable and this review is for that purpose. Best $299 Ive spent in a long time!

Comments about Acoustic Lead Guitar Series G120 DSP 120W Guitar Combo Amp:

I have been looking for an amplifier like this since I had my Peavey Classic stolen in the early 80's.For the price of this amp it can't be beat.I play it in my living room on the high lead channel with the volume on 1,gain on 9 and set on medium chorus with my Standard Strat and the suond is amazing. The tone ,distortion, and sustain I get is phenominal. The clean channel is excellent and very adjustable to meet anyones needs. It has 6 different reverb settings, several delays,slow-medium and fast chorus and phaser. This amp will easily play just about any venue and shake the walls.Go try it for yourself.I Love It.

This amp is amazing! In my opinion, it is better than the modeling amps made by Orange, Marshall, and Line 6. I honestly can't believe this was only 299. I have always loved orange and when looking for a modeling amp I was dead set on the Orange Crush 60 Watt but when I played this I was amazed. Personally I think this amp blew the Crush out of the water! Amazing cleans and overdrive! I'm also a huge fan of the Peavey 6505 and I love the gain on this amp just as much. For the price you are getting one heck of an amp.

        Great Amp/

        By JOHN

Comments about Acoustic Lead Guitar Series G120 DSP 120W Guitar Combo Amp:

After having a Fender Ultimate Chorus for many years, which I enjoyed, it recently started having some intermittent problems. So I decided it was time to by a new amp, having just purchased a new Taylor T5Z and a PRS SE which are both incredible sounding guitars. I had been using a Digitech multi effects pedal for a variety of good clean sounds. I sing and play rhythm and piano in a working band. Using the effects pedal left me unsatisfied because it diminished the beautiful natural sounds of the Taylor T5z and the PRS. Enter the Acoustic G120; The Acoustic G120 brought them back to life with and incredible crisp, natural sound no matter which of the 16 on board effects I use. We buy guitars for their individual quality of sound and tones. This is by far the best solid state amp I have played through, for that natural quality and allowing the guitars themselves to shine through with their different respective tones, even when adding a slap back delay or chorus or any of the many effects. Thanks Acoustic for a gem of an amp. I can't wait to perform with it this week !! 5 + stars from me !!

Best amp I've used so far.

        By Mathew Hollibaugh

        from Maple Valley, Washington

Comments about Acoustic Lead Guitar Series G120 DSP 120W Guitar Combo Amp:

I took a "Beginning Guitar" class at my high school for the easy-A, as I'd been playing for a good year when I entered. This was one of the four amps the school had available. I had tried a few amps before the class, including a few tubes. As an audiophile prior to taking up guitar, this puts the rest to the floor. This was the only amp left when I tried it out. Love at first listen. My Ibanez RG screamed, much to the chagrin of the non-metalheads in the class. The reverb is very nice, and adds a ton of depth to the sound. Distortion is the real beast to pay attention to. You can go from classic rock-to-modern metal in the quick turn of a few knobs (seriously idiot-proof in practice). It can also get really loud. This is a must for loud venues. The case to the amp is nice, too. The teacher doesn't even know it has been dropped... Multiple times (glad I haven't been caught, hehehe...) I'd say its gig-ready. The 5 stars are there for a reason. I've had a good 10-15 hours on it, and this is still my amp of choice, and I will definately be buying one when I get some money. For the price, all I can say is it is almost too underpriced. I'd gladly save 3 times this for an amp like this.

        Great Gig Amp

        By Garrett Bicknell

        from Greeley Colorado

Comments about Acoustic Lead Guitar Series G120 DSP 120W Guitar Combo Amp:

Great Tones!!! Good cleans, great distortions, and even better effects. However with any product there are some warnings to be had... The distortion has more of a fuzz distortion feel than the typical distortion (which I preferred anyway). It also does not come with a foot switch for channel switching or turning the effects on or off. There is a foot switch jack on the back of the amp for you to connect a two button foot switch but it does not come with one. Minus the foot switch set back this amp is great. I can't find any problems with it. The mid shift button gives the amp a variety of tones and the original distortion sound gives it a full tone feel compared to that of other solid state amps and easily competes with high end solid state and tube amps. I highly recommend this lead series line of amps. Used plenty other brands like line 6, Peavey, and Marshall, but really love the way this one has a tone of its own that makes it original and not the same thing in every solid state amp. This amp ROCKS

like the title says this amp is LOUD! its got a decent clean channel and a horrible dirty channel but i use a boss ds-s distortion pedal which is alright but its a big step up from the distortion in the amp. all in all its an alright amp and a great amp for the money if u really need it to be really loud plus its got an effects loop so with a couple of pedals it'll sound great. totally worth the money

        Nice little amp!

        By Michael Ste. Marie

        from Charlotte, NC

Comments about Acoustic Lead Guitar Series G120 DSP 120W Guitar Combo Amp:

I took a flyer on this amp, and for the sale price of $250 at my local Guitar Center, I figured why not. Glad I did, as this little powerhouse is more than capable. It is a strong 120w amp, and will hold it's own with much larger, more expensive amps. I thought the 16 onboard effects would be cheesy, but to my surprise, were pretty effective. You can shape a lot of sounds out of it, and it suits most of my playing styles. Very clean highs and acceptable low ends as well. If there is any downside to this amp, it is that it does not come with a footswitch for channel switching. I ended up getting a Hosa FSC-385 2 button latching footswitch and cable for $30 and problem solved. This amp is light enough to transport around and it is plenty loud enough to gig with. Invest in a couple effects pedals and you are good to go. I bought a '59 Fender Bassman pedal and the sounds I can get out of this thing are amazing! All in all, I find this amp to be a real bang for the buck.

Comments about Acoustic Lead Guitar Series G120 DSP 120W Guitar Combo Amp:

I grabbed one of these amps from my local Guitar Center when they had a sale. Managed to pick it up for $199.99+tax. Can't beat that price. I'm a beginner so I cannot give you an experts view on this amp, but boy is it loud. I barely have the volume control up from minimum without the neighbors complaining. Not a bad buy, seems to do the trick.

Comments about Acoustic Lead Guitar Series G120 DSP 120W Guitar Combo Amp:

            I got this in 2014 .
I had a peavey duece amp (tube/solid state) for ,well since 1984 and loved that amp but it was heavy ,so I decided to get this amp and ,there is no looking back .
It works well with my 12 string acoustic's and my electrics .
IT has well balanced tones and can crank -if needed but I rarely have it past 4 or 5
I love the tones and sounds I get out of this baby and the effects are good,I sam still playing with those .

I have to say -well done Acoustic ,well done and at 42 lbs ,it won't crack de back ..Guy -from the band -UNISON/LAUGHING STRANGER ......

            from Chicago, Il

Comments about Acoustic Lead Guitar Series G120 DSP 120W Guitar Combo Amp:

I bought one of these during the end of the year sale. What an amazing value. The amp is solidly built and sort of retro looking. I played my 86 MiM Strat through it for about 30 minutes. I didn't have time to check out all the various effects. What I can tell you is that this amp is loud and has great cleans at volume. I then added gain a little bit at a time, and messed with my tone knobs on the Strat. Just wow is all I can say. All the EQ settings were at zero, and I still got some awesome sounds from this amp. I grabbed it as a spare, because the price and reviews were so good. My other amps, an 86 Fender Princeton Chorus I bought new from GC way back then, and a Fender Champion 100 are both great too. I'm a solid state guy, as I can get all the tones I like out of all three of these. If you're considering the Acoustic, go play through one. It's a great value priced amp. That's all I got, happy playing.

Comments about Acoustic Lead Guitar Series G120 DSP 120W Guitar Combo Amp:

This is pretty much a one-trick pony amp. It provides reasonably good clean output. It runs a little bass heavy, but you can just turn down the lows. The mid-shift seems useless and clearly adds hiss to the output. I haven't used the DSP, but I'm guessing it's the usual budget sounds that most pros would probably avoid. This is NOT a real two channel amp. I hate that dealers advertise 2 channel amps that are just switching. In other words, this amp has a switch that busses you over to the typically useless "2nd" channel. In this case a channel that cannot be cleaned up and is used basically just for a bad distortion sound. The Pros, however, are simply that this is a really cheap amp that can pump out a decent amount of volume cleanly. What one does with that is there own game. You can't go wrong for the price. I have no idea how substantial the amp is, but I'm guessing I wouldn't take it on the road. Maybe best left as a backline amp. That's how I'm using it--for a steady gig.

Order it on a Tuesday--got it by Saturday in time for my gig. Awesome job, MF!

Bought this Amp in May and just Love it. Great sound quality, I play anything from Metal to Smooth Jazz and everything in between, and it sounds Great. I live in an apartment so I have to get the Volume down, but when the neighbors are gone I crank it up. Some say there is a popping sound when you go to turn it off. Turn the volume all the way down and wait 30 seconds, then turn it off. No pop at all. Can't beat the price either.
